@yasher I also suspect big pilates is involved, suddenly everyone is talking about it when it's been around since like the 80s?

    Pilates-tok?

@ricardoleslie9811 I can see how people can have bad experiences and get injured jumping into lifting cold turkey without a trainer and then feel a lot better with pilates. I think that's the problem with a certain type of workout being trendy because people think they can just go at it...

    Pilates-tok?

@seekinganswersinlife I don't know if it's just me algorithm but I've seen SO much pilates content lately. It's funny to me because I got into pilates before lifting because I have a dance background which has a lot of overlap. I feel that it helped my abs but I didn't develop any other muscles...

Frustrated after 6 months lifting weights

@cthelight7 Definitely make sure you're getting enough protein! I used to assume I was because I thought that nuts and stuff had a lot but after tracking I realized I wasn't even close.

Which documentaries or videos helped motivate you greatly in taking health/fitness seriously?

@savedsue Watching Survivor actually motivated me because I wanted to be in good enough shape that I think I'd be good at the challenged

I don’t know why, but I wasn’t expecting this. None of my clothes fit anymore!

@jlegette78 If you love all your old clothes and want similar replacements I recommend checking out poshmark! Usually if you search the brand and the type of item you're looking for stuff comes up. Happy for you!

My completely subjective experience with, and advice for, starting a strength training program (as an absolute beginner)

@lifeunlocked Even if there isn't crossfit, many gyms have coaching services so if you're starting to go heavier and want any feedback on your form that could be worth it!

My completely subjective experience with, and advice for, starting a strength training program (as an absolute beginner)

@lifeunlocked I love this detailed advice! I'm relatively new to strength training as well. I got started by joining a Crossfit gym that has a great reputation for being welcoming to non-bros because it was so close to where I was living I figured I would have no excuse not to go. I went for...

    School Fitness/Testing in your country

@heartofberries From the US, that test destroyed my self esteem when I took it when I was like 11 (6th grade). We did the thing where you did a dead hang from a bar for as long as you could and all the other girls who hadn't hit puberty yet could hang for like a minute and I only lasted a few...

    What is your lifting/cardio routine?

@michaelo I lift Monday/Wednesday/Friday/Saturday and do around 300 calories of cardio on the off days. I also try to get 11,000 steps each of those days. It's definitely a little hard to make time for it especially since I have to work in person 2 days a week now. I have lost 10 pounds since...

I’m so discouraged :/ last week on my weekly weigh in I was 122.4 and now I’m back to where I started 3 weeks ago, 125.4 (5’2”)

@adriana28 Did you only weigh yourself once? My weight fluctuates around 3 pounds based on when I weigh myself. Yesterday I didn't eat much and was 132 and then this morning I was a little bloated and was 135. It's important to look at averages because water weight actually makes a pretty big...
