48M kind of disappointed in 2-years' gym progress. Maybe I need some help

@nowhereman Could be a few things here. 1) I’d recommend finding a program that works everything at least twice a week and utilize progressive overload and failure sets. 2) track your calories and macros for awhile. You’ll get an idea of how much you need to gain or lose. 3) get bloodwork...

    Orangetheory v CrossFit

@ppat4u 90% of weight loss happens in the kitchen, not the gym.

Possible to be in good cardio shape but very fat?

@ms7dc Yes, I’d add in some zone 2 cardio though. With cardio harder doesn’t always mean better.

    Most important non-gym habits?

@yeswin Don’t eat like an asshole, drink water, make sleep a priority (especially this one imo), take it easy on the alcohol.

    Bad in bench press

@jakesmith99 CrossFit is not conducive to bench press. Mine was 255 before I quit. It’s now 315. My deadlift, squat, and press have all went up also.

    Frustrated over being very fat.

@ms7dc First off, weight loss happens in the kitchen. Not the gym. You can’t outwork a bad diet. 40 minutes on a stairmaster will buy you a snickers. Secondly, motivation is shit. When you’re hungry and want a pizza with ding dongs you have to have discipline. The motivation is that you’re fat...

@scott2511 Mine was low and I opted for clomid instead of trt. Got my levels back to normal with no side effects.

@crosswise Your numbers are off or your thyroid is fucked.

Joined a great gym but I’m embarrassed that I’m last at everything

@angie032386 1) it wont get easier, but you’ll get better. 2) no one cares where you finish. Everyone else is too focused on their own misery in the moment.

More reps with lower weight, or less reps with higher weight?

@ladyblue1 Lower the weight. If you want to build mass you need to eat more calories, use progressive overload, and go to failure. CrossFit generally isn’t designed for packing on mass. You’re going to likely have to do extra for that. Olympic lifts especially also aren’t the lifts to be adding...

    How do you keep motivated?

@rhettryder I don’t. Motivation is fickle. Discipline is what carries you. The time where you don’t want put in the work are the most important times to do it.
