Really Surprised by My Dexa Results 5'8'', 170 pounds, 30% Bodyfat

@totlanh Call them! They literally JUST moved to their W John Street location (as in, 2 days ago) and they are running special pricing that's significantly lower than anything posted anywhere online, including on Groupon.

Really Surprised by My Dexa Results 5'8'', 170 pounds, 30% Bodyfat

@dasiebe01 Thanks so much :) That's basically exactly what the lady who did my scan said yesterday, haha! She said I was smack inside the healthy range for a 30-year old. I had my Dexa done in Seattle and honestly have nothing but glowing things to say about DexaFit Seattle. Great people...

Really Surprised by My Dexa Results 5'8'', 170 pounds, 30% Bodyfat

@shoeshavetongues I really tried to prepare, I really did. But honestly...I didn't anticipate that the Navy BF test would be off by a 33% margin of error on me. Or that a bioimpedence at my gym, which we all know is bunk, would have overshot my lean mass by a whopping 25 pounds(!) That...

Really Surprised by My Dexa Results 5'8'', 170 pounds, 30% Bodyfat

I thought I responded to comment asking about DEXA accuracy and then it disappeared. I'm just full of Monday-fail FWIW, I measure 20% on the US Navy calculator, which definitely skewed my expectations: http://fitness.bizcalcs.com/Calculator.asp?Calc=Body-Fat-Navy Yes, DEXA is the most...

Really Surprised by My Dexa Results 5'8'', 170 pounds, 30% Bodyfat

@ove21 Totally reasonable question, I'm an open book! I think the short answer is that I am viewing my training as a very long improvement season and my first goal is to reach a healthy BMI and body fat levels. my training approach is very dynamic (adjusted weekly) and my body is responding...

Really Surprised by My Dexa Results 5'8'', 170 pounds, 30% Bodyfat

@bubblegum2021 Awesome, thank you for pointing me to that resource :) I have noticed there's some vegetarian ladies here who smash their protein goals.

Really Surprised by My Dexa Results 5'8'', 170 pounds, 30% Bodyfat

@bubblegum2021 Hey, sorry if my post was confusing. When I was thinking about things in the semi-recent past that could affect where my bodyfat is today, one former factor was prior vegetarian diet and prior protein intake. I was vegetarian as teenager and again for about 6 months last year...

@dawn16 Amazed I've never snapped one!

Really Surprised by My Dexa Results 5'8'', 170 pounds, 30% Bodyfat

@bubblegum2021 Also, related kind of. I did receive confirmation yesterday that I have large bones. I'm 1.6 standard deviations above the mean skeletal weight by height. But for a 5.8 and 1/2 inch woman? That's 6 pounds total of bone. Cannot stop laughing.

Really Surprised by My Dexa Results 5'8'', 170 pounds, 30% Bodyfat

@cagepatin76 I do feel more energetic, but I think that has more to do with the fact I'm no longer under eating or under eating protein than being a meat eater. :/

Really Surprised by My Dexa Results 5'8'', 170 pounds, 30% Bodyfat

@mauddib You're welcome! There is actually another dexa posted in the archives here from a woman within a half inch of my height and a pound or two of my weight and nearly identical body fat also :) I am currently driving home from the gym but will p.m. you a link when I'm back to my laptop

Really Surprised by My Dexa Results 5'8'', 170 pounds, 30% Bodyfat

@mauddib You're welcome! And that's remarkably strong. Wow. Posted a clothed picture below since the check-in pictures for my coach are definitely honest but don't necessarily reflect how I look in day-to-day life.

Really Surprised by My Dexa Results 5'8'', 170 pounds, 30% Bodyfat

@mauddib Oh, makes sense regarding sweatshirt. You're definitely an hourglass/x shape. Your shoulders and forearms are goals, you look so strong and I never would have ever guessed that you weigh what you do... definitely appears 20 pounds less. And that's exactly what the dexa tech said, too...

Really Surprised by My Dexa Results 5'8'', 170 pounds, 30% Bodyfat

@mauddib Holy cow, you've made an amazing transformation to go from 320 to 176! Congrats on so much hard work. May I comment that it seems that we have some similarities in weight distribution, in terms of broad shoulders and strong arms and apple shape at high weight?

Really Surprised by My Dexa Results 5'8'', 170 pounds, 30% Bodyfat

@mauddib Yup quite a few comments from women in our range (which is tall for women I encounter in the real world in the US)!

Really Surprised by My Dexa Results 5'8'', 170 pounds, 30% Bodyfat

@mauddib Oh my gosh, stat twin! Did you see the recent post from a woman of our approximate stats, perhaps 10 days ago? Congrats on your transformation! You have halved yourself. I feel my stomach looks fairly average for being 18 months postpartum (which I am), so I'm proud of how far I've...

Really Surprised by My Dexa Results 5'8'', 170 pounds, 30% Bodyfat

As I was doing my recumbent bike LISS tonight, my forearm vein appeared to be starting to pop so I thought I'd share because I felt proud of that visible sign of progress. Nothing unusual today in terms of caffeine, carbs or supplements (132 grams clean carbs, a cup or two of coffee, a...
