    AITH: Gym edition

@okegold For this, yes you're the asshole. The other dude was also being an asshole too. How this interaction should have gone: him: waits for you to finish a set and waves for you to take your headphones out "Hey man, how many sets do you have left?" you: pull out headphone "Hey, I only...

    Weight Loss Journey

@rosie88 Your workout ultimately doesn't matter when it comes to weight loss. You 100% should do some lifting as this helps promote muscle retention at a minimum, and for beginners you may build some muscle. But at the end of the day, if you aren't losing weight, you're eating too much. So...

overall trying to be healthy/strong but not sure what to eat

@cornbreadfed614 You just gotta prioritize and not rely on motivation. Make your gym time like a job. You don't need to go daily though, 3x a week full body workout would be plenty. You can do some cardio by even just starting with long walks around your neighborhood. Improving your cardio...

Little results, can I get some advice?

@utookmyname 170 is still better than 230, so at the end of the day that's an improvement. But I would bet money on you still being fat when you were 180lbs (and by 13, oof!) I'm not trying to be mean, but that is seriously a lot of weight for someone your height. I have multiple male friends...

Lose body fat and gain some muscle

@kolox That sounds like one of those definitions that became a thing cus everyone kept using the word wrong so they went with it. But I just wanted to clarify since there are many women who will end up saying like "I don't wanna build muscle, just tone it" when that's not how it works at all.

    Lunges as a big guy

@robertbelmes Without looking at the video, I'm guessing the straps are suspension training straps (TRX is a brand name, plenty of cheaper ones on Amazon) check the weight limit on them though (you might not be able to get the cheapest ones) But these straps are great for support for leg work...

Lose body fat and gain some muscle

@kolox "toning" isn't a thing. You don't tone a muscle. You build muscle and then be lean enough to see it. Start lifting now. More muscle will make you look leaner in the long term you may not need or want to get back down to 120lbs. Don't go chasing weight loss when muscle gain is what you...

Little results, can I get some advice?

@utookmyname If you want to lose weight, the ONLY way to do that is to be in a calorie deficit. Doesn't matter how much you exercise, if you aren't losing weight, you're eating too much. https://tdeecalculator.net/result.php?s=imperial&age=23&g=female&lbs=230&in=64&act=1.2&bf=&f=1 So an...

    Macro questions for deficit

@kingdomleast That's gonna be entirely dependent on you. Your watch estimate isn't gonna be entirely accurate, but it can be a good starting point. I wouldn't be trying to be so precise with like "1598", just say 1600. Also, I'd generally recommend a range of calories, but both are in a...
