    Mod Post: The Ideal Gym

@rcpolk I started my home gym a decade ago and it's been the BEST thing I've done for my fitness. Never have to worry about hours, or other people, or membership fees, when I was broke and unemployed I still had it, and covid didn't effect my fitness at all.

Mark Rippetoe thinks putting women in concentration camps is an "interesting take"

@ciacag Sohee Lee's book, Eat. Lift. Thrive. is probably one of the best fitness books I've read. It covers EVERYTHING, and it sets you up to write your own programs and make lasting habits and lifelong changes. And her instagram is awesome and hilarious.

Has anyone had a silly “lightbulb” moment while exercising?

@christoph2005 For strength training, engage everything. When I do a curl, I grip the bar as hard as possible, so my arms can transfer all the strength they have to the bar. My upper body is braced as tight as I can, as my curling muscles are attached to it. If it's not tight, they are unable to...

Getting a gym membership today and I’m already anxious and embarrassed

@dlnott78 The next fitness fad is trading your juicer for an easy bake oven.

What was your “DAMN I’M GETTING STRONG” moment?

@justin_holmes I also kept active jobs after quitting lifting, and exercised lightly now and then to look a bit better, which makes such a huge difference compared to being sedentary for years. I doubt I'd be close to where I am now if I had spent those years in a sedentary job and had to undo...

What was your “DAMN I’M GETTING STRONG” moment?

@reginald_ringor Always with weights, the yoga is just part of my warmup.

What was your “DAMN I’M GETTING STRONG” moment?

@reginald_ringor I feel more focused and mindful of my body, plus it's enjoyable. I do a slow mobility + yoga warmup with lots of deep breathing and it feels amazing. It's part of my routine, when I hit the bong it's go time and I get right to it. I've also had people say they could never work...

What was your “DAMN I’M GETTING STRONG” moment?

@reginald_ringor Omg your user name is perfect, I hit my bong as a pre-workout. 🤣

What was your “DAMN I’M GETTING STRONG” moment?

@dawn16 I have a couple things going for me: I've been through a ton of adversity, and work out harder now. I worked out hard before but quit the breathing squat program each time I tried, this time I didn't think there was anything special about just not giving up. I figured out my gender and...

What was your “DAMN I’M GETTING STRONG” moment?

@justin_holmes Two big ones. In 2020 my mental health improved enough to start putting some effort into my lifting and I'd made a lot of progress over the summer. My dad was backing his small truck trailer down the very narrow windy driveway of their old cabin and it kept turning too much or...

Mark Rippetoe thinks putting women in concentration camps is an "interesting take"

@terrya88 Rippetoe sounds like those predators who intentionally refuse to understand "let's do some fucked up shit in the bedroom" has no bearing on real fucking life.

Published Article - Creatine intake for females - a lot of benefits, very little downsides (strength, depression, body composition) :)

@ertety703 Just my own experience, I also take spiro and started taking creatine in the winter and increased to about 15g a day (cause of this thread) in the weeks leading up to my blood test, and my creatinine levels were totally fine.

Published Article - Creatine intake for females - a lot of benefits, very little downsides (strength, depression, body composition) :)

@moderncrusader Creatine is creatine, it's not present in collagen or whey. It is in meat because creatine is stored in muscle tissue, but there isn't much.

Very uplifting article I found about female strength training. Belief in yourself and your abilities is so important!!

@christi79 Belief about your genes matters more in physical tests than your actual genes. https://www.strongerbyscience.com/genetics-expectations/

I feel like I’m bulking wrong and don’t know what to do?

@livin4christ2 Personally I think notebooks are better, if only for reliability and longevity. Mine go back 11 years, work without electricity or updates and I can drop a loaded barbell on them. Oh and physically flipping through all my workouts feels awesome. Almost filled my current one again :)

Feeling like I don't look like I workout

@carolsheats I have a reclining office chair and like getting comfortable if I'm just listening, but it's also a really good position for my shoulders and arms to make their ever increasing size known lol!

Feeling like I don't look like I workout

@alan Yeah, I always think this whenever the topic comes up. If you eat fairly normal, you'll look fairly normal. My muscles are quite visible with chubby levels of body fat. If I lift my hands behind my head lounging about on a zoom meeting, my shoulders and biceps pop out and look big, and...

Mark Rippetoe thinks putting women in concentration camps is an "interesting take"

@lukemoers It doesn't even make any sense, if you put a barbell on a vag it'll be uncomfortable at worst, but put one on a testicle and it'll pop like a grape.
