I‘m tired of not getting better at pull-ups

@greg67 To be clear I think rows are a great exercise, but everybody only has so much energy, if you want to get good a one exercise I personally find its better to focus on it.

I‘m tired of not getting better at pull-ups

@greg67 I think bodyweight rows are an excellent exercise, especially if you cannot do pullups. If you CAN do pullups and want to increase your pullup numbers, I would recommend putting your energy into pullups instead of rows. Horizontal pulling is more important for the rear delts and upper...

I‘m tired of not getting better at pull-ups

@greg67 There is HUGE overlap between pullups and rows. They basically work the same muscles. Trust me when you get your pullups higher you will be able to do twice as many rows without training it. Rear delts are a little trickier so you may want to do a set or 2 at the end of the workout...

I‘m tired of not getting better at pull-ups

@greg67 The volume is different for everybody. What is important is that you build slowly over time and progress. If you can comfortably do 15 pullups a workout, 3x a week, 45 is your base. Every week try to do 2 or 3 more total. Rome wasn't built overnight, just build slowly and steadily...

I‘m tired of not getting better at pull-ups

@greg67 Might be an unpopular opinion on here, but you are doing too much stuff in your workout. If you want to get better at pullups (which are the best exercise in your routine) drop some of the stuff and do more pullups. The rows aren't completely necessary and pullups are a way more...

I want bigger legs and I want your advice

@fish3rofm3n You need weight. The best investment i made during the pandemic was buying a super heavy dumbbell and repping out goblet squats.

I can only think of one exercise that has entirely changed my life- the Hindu Squat

@1haroldl I used to do these but I like sissy squats a lot better. I get a stronger quad pump.

Am I too Old for gains? Muscle and Strength?

@lucaannibale No. My dad built up to 5 pullups at 60. Never too old.

Straight arm day once per week?

@mudmixer Stop doing handstands on the ground and get paralletes or pushup bars. They 100% save your wrists.

I‘m tired of not getting better at pull-ups

@greg67 Time restriction is a bad excuse. Do you want to spend an hour doing a bunch of exercises with mediocre results, or do you want to drop the fluff and focus on what you want to get better at? You can probaly replace your entire program with just pullups and dips and get better results...

I‘m tired of not getting better at pull-ups

@greg67 I can only speak for myself. I can do 25 pullups. I can do a one arm pullup. When I want to get in a "good" pullup workout I do sets of 5. That's it. I have really short rest between sets and change grips between sets. Using this method I can easily hit 100 pullups in a workout...

IMO, the sub name has to be changed. 90% of the posts here are in the wrong sub

@marvin54 Subreddits can't really change names, so its a moot point.

How many pullups are enough in a workout

@houstonreborn Depends how strong you are. 50 is a lot for a new person, for an advanced lifter 50 is just maintenance. I lean towards heavy volume since pullups eventually become low intensity. You can keep volume lower by increasing intensity with one arms or weighted.

    Safest pressing exercise for shoulders

@harmonmarie Externally rotating your shoulders helps alleviate a lot of issues. Hence why people with shoulder issues use a football bar. Neutral grip pushups and neutral grip dumbbell press are very safe.

What is a better transition workout: easier variations vs negatives vs lower reps vs longer rest?

@yahleel Smaller sets and longer rests. You need to do full pullups to get better at them.

[D] Applying Mike Mentzer method in full body workouts

@dalytec You talk like mentzer invented lifting heavy. He didnt. His entire schtick was one set is all you need. Today everybody lifts extemely heavy for multiple sets.

Big Bar vs Fit! Home Gym vs power tower (BEGINNER)

@newdiscoveries 100% power tower. Pullups and dips are 90% of all you need.

Can You Build Muscle Effectively Using Calisthenics or Bodyweight Alone? A Look at the Science Surrounding Low-Load Resistance Training

@charlie Workout studies are notoriously awful. There are too many variables that just can't be controlled for. Diet, sleep, history, work outside the weightroom. We know for a fact that bodyweight exercises can build muscle. I wouldn't say its anecdotal that pretty much every male...

[D] Applying Mike Mentzer method in full body workouts

@dalytec Idk how you could possible say the modern method stems from mentzer. He was extemely dogmatic that its one working set or bust. Efficiency doesnt matter when you have 8 hours to workout. Efficiency is actually a lot more important to a casual lifters with a job and kids.
