    I don't understand S&S strength standards

@khohanguc `You answered your own question: the standard doesn’t mean anything it’s completely arbitrary

Dan John's issue with dual snatches???

@uffer I believe that would actually be Pavel

    Juarez Valley Method

@modesty That does sound like a good one! Double snatch or half snatch is always a good full body movement. Could always incorporate some clean/squat/press if you wanna go crazy.

    Juarez Valley Method

@dawn16 Yeah I get what you mean about “soothing.” There’s something about these progressive rep schemes (ladders, pyramids, etc) that make them a great way to get in a lot of reps without the tedium of straight sets.

    Juarez Valley Method

@kris8585 Yes, I paired the two pushing movements together as one “JV20” and the two pulling movements as a second “JV20”. I actually agree with you and usually like pairing opposing movements. But the weights I brought with me aren’t terribly heavy for me so I decided to pair the similar...

    Juarez Valley Method

Some of you may have heard of Josh Bryant, coach and author of Jailhouse Strong, amongst many other titles. Jailhouse Strong, as the name suggests, dives into methods used by inmates to stay fit and gain strength with minimal equipment. One of the methods he discussed is the “Juarez Valley...

Half-way point in Easy Strength... where to next?

@googs There’s not, to my knowledge. I was just making a crappy joke about how they always seem to embellish content to promote their methods. 🙃

Half-way point in Easy Strength... where to next?

@googs Isn’t storytelling and embellishment part of the RKC/SFG Level 3 cert?

    16kg to 32kg TGU - 256 days

@penaia That makes sense. Long term strength gains usually seem to stem from quality sub-maximal training over time where there are plenty of variables other than weight that can be manipulated for progressive overload.

    16kg to 32kg TGU - 256 days

@penaia Great work! Did you just use the 16, 24, and 32?

    What’s a strong press?

@lod83 There are many talented Olympic weightlifters with surprisingly mediocre pressing strength. At least since clean & press was removed from competition.

What was YOUR pathway to pressing double 32s?

@andy0 I’ve done offset presses and they felt about the same as single arm presses to me. For example doing 24 and 20 for reps feels about the same as doing 24 with a single arm for the same reps. I’m used to barbell pressing and overhead work so I wonder how that’d translate to double KB...

What was YOUR pathway to pressing double 32s?

@andy0 Do you feel that pressing doubles are more challenging than a single KB?

Step up snatch for forefoot training?

@y0ung1996 I hike quite a bit. I also love leg training and have achieved decent unilateral leg strength (I did a 64kg pistol squat per leg recently). Here are my thoughts: Most of the benefit of the exercise you linked to will be from the step up portion (where weight can be varied with single...

What do you think about this barbell-inspired kettlebell hypertrophy plan?

@solution4music “Grinds” in the context of KB training usually refers to exercises that have a controllable eccentric component, like squats, presses, and cleans so I am assuming that the OP is talking about exercise selection rather than making each rep a “slow grind”. I would agree that...

What do you think about this barbell-inspired kettlebell hypertrophy plan?

@solution4music Beyond heaps of anecdotal evidence supporting it, this paper by Brad Schoenfeld, PhD, is a good starting point. Note the section on Repetition Speed. https://journals.lww.com/nsca-jscr/fulltext/2010/10000/the_mechanisms_of_muscle_hypertrophy_and_their.40.aspx
