@ronlin Dry Fighting Weight. Simple & Sinister - Timeless Simple. One hand swing, then a clean, then a press, then a squat or a lunge in any direction. The last group you can emom, amrap, turn into a complex.
You are correct. “More isn’t better. It’s just more.”
Good luck.
@rainadavis There are a lot of variables that aren’t listed here. With my own children they have to be able to press it at least 3 times to train with it, preferably 5-10.
@dmk741 I don’t know if this matters to you, but the cast iron ones have a different center of gravity than the sport ones. What’s that mean? It means if you watch the jugglers, they all use sport kettlebells.
@feuerbach Call it a luxury, but I like having the 12’s and lighter bells for things like deloading and mobility work. A shoulder is a complex and fragile thing. There’s a big difference in my mind between the stability I have in my shoulder for an overhead press and a windmill. Learning the...
@dmk741 Truth is, a 16kg bell is just a great weight. You can’t go wrong with it. Later, when you ask, yes you need the 12, 24, and 32. And you need the doubles.
But, yeah, 16kg is a great place to start.
@sawer1984 I don’t want to pick a fight, but I don’t believe that S&S is going to be enough to bump anyone up a weight class anymore than I believe that the Soviet Weightlifting team was at 6% body fat because of workouts similar to Dry Fighting Weight.
@returner Let me point you towards Simple and Sinister by Pavel Tsatsouline. It’s a $10 ebook and it will check a lot of boxes.
Training for a combat sport is demanding already. Every thing you add is something else your body has to recover from. I’m sure you know this. The kind of...
@yeshuasown I don’t do adjustable kettlebells, but I wouldn’t go with the small ones. 32’s are really useful and 24’s are the default. I think limiting yourself to 20’s would be a mistake unless you intend to buy more.
@pencillead That’s not insane. That’s a real thing for a lot of women. That’s why places like Curves and Planet Fitness (PF) exist. You definitely need to feel comfortable where you’re at. I suggest PF often though because good kettlebells are expensive.
By the time you buy a 12kg and...
@pencillead If there is a Planet Fitness near you, give them the $10. Use their kettlebells for a month. Figure out the weight/weights you want. They will have up to 35 lbs.
Show up for pizza day. Eat $10 worth of pizza. Call it even and cancel your membership. Buy a kettlebell or two...
