6 MONTHS PROGRESS - No before photo :(

@pjm Seriously. The dude is 5’11” and 143lbs. That’s super low BF.

I finally achieved the muscle up at age 38. It’s never too late!

@dearlord I feel you! I gave up on the false grip at least 3 times in the past year. What worked for me was FG pulls to my armpits.

I finally achieved the muscle up at age 38. It’s never too late!

@brian77 Thank you! No experience at all. I didn’t even start working out until late 2019, and that was at my woefully lacking work “gym”. I could do 2 pull-ups and that was probably because I was at my lowest weight of 145 lbs. When Covid hit I got some rings for home and really fell in love...

I finally achieved the muscle up at age 38. It’s never too late!

@dawn16 Don’t get discouraged! I gave up and restarted my false grip training at least 3 times. For me, false grip pulls to armpits were the most effective. Plus it helps train the movement you need. Little by little it became less uncomfortable.

I finally achieved the muscle up at age 38. It’s never too late!

@dearlord I credit the band to helping me breakthrough. I had been debating getting one for a long time and glad I finally did. Being able to do the transition, even with help, was huge.

I finally achieved the muscle up at age 38. It’s never too late!

@hollywood3307 For me the MU was a skill as the transition was the piece I was missing. I could do 15 clean bodyweight pull-ups, chest to bar pull-ups, and RTO dips through full ROM and deep dips. But I was always getting stuck on the transition. Practicing with an assistance band helped me to...

@1simus Hey glad I could help encourage you! Muscle memory is real so it probably wouldn’t take you that long to get back into it.

@annad That’s great! I hope you get it. Don’t get discouraged. Just 2 weeks ago I was feeling discouraged that I was never going to get it and then boom!

@rohitce Whoo! You got this. I use rings on a free standing pullup bar and it works great. You’re off to a fantastic start at 8 reps!

I finally achieved the muscle up at age 38. It’s never too late!

@cybrlands Thanks and congrats to you too! I definitely had the strength for awhile too but the transition was eluding me. The assistance band really helped me train the transition and then yesterday boom!

I finally achieved the muscle up at age 38. It’s never too late!

@nannysweets Thanks! I could do 2 very dirty pull-ups when I first started. I only weighed 145lbs then and had little to no muscle.

I finally achieved the muscle up at age 38. It’s never too late!

@jpigeonrn See I thought 36 was too late and I was totally wrong. I look way better than I ever did in my 20s or early 30s. It gets easier to stay committed once you find your groove. Plus you’ll start to look awesome and that is great motivation to continue. Newbie gains are the best so it’ll...

I finally achieved the muscle up at age 38. It’s never too late!

@jpigeonrn Don’t make the same mistake I did and wait until your late 30s. I wasn’t very active when I was younger and always on the scrawny side. I just thought I didn’t have the genetics to get muscular, but turns out I just wasn’t putting in the effort. In 2019 I was pushing 37 and 145lbs...

@katharinelovesjesus Congrats! Yeah I really wasn’t expecting it either. Just thought it’d be another day if grinding it out like you said.

@thomasik I didn’t even start working out until I was almost 37. And then almost a year doing strictly bodyweight fitness. You got this!

@thomasik Grease the groove helped me immensely with pull-ups. If you can do 1 pull-up, try 1 every hour or so. Stick with that that until you can do 4 at a time, then do 2 every hour. Try to stay in the 50% of max rep range. You want to feel fresh before and after each time you do them.
