    Bodyweight Fitness Progress Chart

@jellybug78 Cool idea, it's a good visual representation of various progressions. Overall it would be interesting to have an update of the OG2 charts with some new moves that are often street workout goals, like impossible dips/bodyweight tricep extensions, hefesto/bodyweight bicep curls...

Diamond pushups use more chest than wide pushups (from a study that also examined standard, pseudo-planche and simplified Lalanne pushups)

@dawn16 Weighted calisthenics are a very valid way of progression, we are not elitist here and are free to use any tool available if it's efficient. The advantage here is easier gradual progress compared to learning new variations to make the leverage harder. It's just one of the possibilities...

Diamond pushups use more chest than wide pushups (from a study that also examined standard, pseudo-planche and simplified Lalanne pushups)

@wayaok If you have a good backpack you can put it on your back from a chair or sofa. This guy does it with 71kg/156lbs. If you have a dip belt and elevate feet and hands, standard pushups can be conveniently loaded.

Body Before and After 2 years of working out without proper knowledge

@sydneyelise Thanks, that's interesting to know, good luck with your training.

Body Before and After 2 years of working out without proper knowledge

@sydneyelise How many reps of what progressions at the start and at the end is a good example.

Diamond pushups use more chest than wide pushups (from a study that also examined standard, pseudo-planche and simplified Lalanne pushups)

@mercysavesme I think wide pushups may have also been one of the causes of my shoulder problems before learning proper form, same for many people. I see some comments saying that wide pushups can also be done injury-free, but it seems like they are very easy to do wrong and cause impingement...

Body Before and After 2 years of working out without proper knowledge

@sydneyelise I always like seeing the starting and final strength levels in a progress post, but there is no doubt about the success of your physical progress.

Body Before and After 2 years of working out without proper knowledge

@sydneyelise Congratulations for the progress, gradually creating habits was the right choice. Have you tracked your strength gains from when you started to now?

Diamond pushups use more chest than wide pushups (from a study that also examined standard, pseudo-planche and simplified Lalanne pushups)

@sudsy What about shoulder width? You can go straight to ring pushups or floor pseudo-planche pushups (the lean can be increased very gradually, starting from barely more than standard pushups). Or weighted pushups.

Diamond pushups use more chest than wide pushups (from a study that also examined standard, pseudo-planche and simplified Lalanne pushups)

@dawn16 There are many ways to improve the stability of the shoulder blades, the one you linked looks good. Rolling forward is common in dips with bad form, here is a demonstration how it looks like. Having a good posture overall does not mean you can't lose it during an exercise if you haven't...

Diamond pushups use more chest than wide pushups (from a study that also examined standard, pseudo-planche and simplified Lalanne pushups)

@dawn16 The wall slides from the video are good. As for my personal experience, I had shoulder impingement caused by pullups that set me back from 9 repetitions to active hangs only, and took me a few months to return to the previous level. What worked for me was improving my scapular control...

Diamond pushups use more chest than wide pushups (from a study that also examined standard, pseudo-planche and simplified Lalanne pushups)

@dawn16 Whenever I find an exercise like that I appreciate more the creativity of bodyweight training.

Diamond pushups use more chest than wide pushups (from a study that also examined standard, pseudo-planche and simplified Lalanne pushups)

@prodigy1 Since you are putting at least 70-80% of your bodyweight on the wrists, it can be normal for them to get sore if they are not used to the load. As I progressed with training, by doing wrist prehabilitation (for example the GMB wrist warmup found in the recommended routine of the...

Diamond pushups use more chest than wide pushups (from a study that also examined standard, pseudo-planche and simplified Lalanne pushups)

@terrym5407 I kind of regret giving so much credit to this article but I still think the title of my post is correct and people will make better training choices by knowing about the other pushup variations shown.

Diamond pushups use more chest than wide pushups (from a study that also examined standard, pseudo-planche and simplified Lalanne pushups)

@jkatt I am starting to wonder how useful the study was, since EMG is less useful when load or form is different, maybe the hand placement of these 5 variations was similar enough to get valid conclusions or maybe not, also see ThunderThighs' reply in this thread. So I agree with you at least...

Diamond pushups use more chest than wide pushups (from a study that also examined standard, pseudo-planche and simplified Lalanne pushups)

@jkatt It could be the case, but giving exposure to narrow, weighted, pseudo-planche etc. pushups as a training tool is still a good thing overall. I think wide pushups still activate the chest less since people tend to do them in a T shape and part of the load goes to the passive structures...

Diamond pushups use more chest than wide pushups (from a study that also examined standard, pseudo-planche and simplified Lalanne pushups)

@dawn16 From what I understand it's best used to compare exercises with similar loads or form, so for these pushups it should be ok because the hand placement does not change extremely.
