@p1saint2 Exactly. There might be one picture of me shirtless before I started working out. Maybe. Now I'm much more comfortable.

@missvicki I always feel weird about posting before/after. The response is a crapshoot. Plus I don't think I look that drastically different. I don't have photos from when I was really out of shape.

@dawn16 That wasn't the point, and we both know that.

Official Discussion: Quick and Thick / Double Grace

@dawn16 Not impossible. Especially not after 60 reps of it. Ask someone with a 300lb raw bench max to rep out the bar 100x. The majority of them will hit failure before 90. Complete failure. 40% is very light...for several reps. At 30, it becomes notably problematic. At 60, seriously...

Official Discussion: Quick and Thick / Double Grace

@dawn16 It is completely different to have a strong lift versus being able to perform it for huge numbers. It affects your muscles differently, you have to deal with fatigue, etc. All things that increase your risk of injury, so adding that to a movement that is very complex to begin with and...

@dyvinka As far as cleans are concerned, that was far from perfect. Ask anyone who coaches Olympic. Not that you'll believe me, but my last Grace was 1:51.

Official Discussion: Quick and Thick / Double Grace

@danielmullangi Really? So the only reason people develop fitness goals is for crossfit events? That's the single decider that creates things people strive to do? Also, not even close to perfect form. Almost everyone of those guys pulls early. You can see it in the speed clean event too. They...

Official Discussion: Quick and Thick / Double Grace

@porcelainsoul My point is that it is arguably needless increase in risk. Like telling marathon runners they aren't allowed water until they finish.

Official Discussion: Quick and Thick / Double Grace

@porcelainsoul So your argument went from "this isn't dangerous, shut up" to "lots of things are dangerous, shut up". I don't want to see someone throw a 100mph fastball 4 feet outside the strike zone, or a marathon runner in 85 degree weather who is walking at the back of the pack, or a 250lb...

Official Discussion: Quick and Thick / Double Grace

@porcelainsoul Anything can be dangerous when your body is in severe state of fatigue. 60 reps of a movement that requires complex coordination? That can absolutely be dangerous for these guys.

@saved1970 You really gotta open your hips to get that snatch right.

@p1saint2 Take everything with a grain of salt. I've seen tons of people say things that are absolutely asinine here, and have a half dozen people agree with them. Saying you are an expert does not in fact make you an expert.

Doing the RR twice a week for 6+ years: a review (average guy, 32yo)

@egspirit Routine is great if it gets you to consistently exercise, or really to do anything that benefits your health. So I'm all for it as an alternative to not exercising. But doing the same routine for years really minimizes your improvement. That's my main issue with the RR.

Doing the RR twice a week for 6+ years: a review (average guy, 32yo)

@egspirit That's awesome that you found something you liked, and have been able to stick with it. My issue with the RR long term is that it lacks variety. The progressions are great, but there really isn't much variation in HOW you are challenging the muscle groups. That's a big part of why...
