Emma Gardner not going to college to train at CompTrain

@denisovich She seems to have been cought out by her age, the cancellation of events (including the 2020 teen Games), and her ankle injury. But so far she has not proven that she's in the league of the new 17 year old phenoms.

Emma Gardner not going to college to train at CompTrain

@skelendke It seems not many people know her, so far we had people mistakenly refer to Emma Cary and Emma Lawson instead of Gardner.

    23.1 women’s barbells misloaded

@martinluthra14 You are right in that it is legit in its own community to the point that it can practically get away with anything (I do wonder how long that will last though). And you are wrong in that CF is not officially recognized by any part of the actual regulated sport world. Of course...

Emma Gardner not going to college to train at CompTrain

@skelendke Correct. This thread is about Emma Gardner out of CFNE.

@chakmach Yeah, nobody cares about shirts, it was an example that she met Van Zyl and she switched her sponsor and coach to hers.

@skelendke I'm not sure what you are referring to. Are you talkin about Emma Lawson?

Europe & Asia Day Semi-final Weekend Discussion Thread

@giftsigns That lady is on such an emotional roller coaster... She almost didn't commit to TTT, then somehow visited them in Georgia after WZA then she raved about them, the community and the coaches. Then she left, changed coaches within TTT, then I guess at last WZA she competed on a team...

Emma Gardner not going to college to train at CompTrain

TBH I was asking about Emma as a talent, not about her decision per se. She had the ankle injury, but she hasn't been crushing her competitors as far as I can see.

Interesting that she says that she's never done a big international weightlifting competition before, because she also did the 2021 European Championships (9th).

@tennesseegirl1993 Good point! I know Peter is not (I don't know why they don't use proper names): "Coffee, Pods and Wods is a podcast centred on conversations with coaches, athletes and creatives in CrossFit to shine a light on those that deserve it. Peter White, the host, is a teacher from...

@labryan I'm not sure about the last part. She may have had the best team when she got podiums. Good cop, bad cop: Kellner seemed harsh and militaristic, Singleton mild mannered professorish. But she had all kinds of coaching styles. Her desire to 'be happy to be the best' is a cop out in my...

Europe & Asia Day Semi-final Weekend Discussion Thread

@labryan Some people fancy her looks, and some even that she talks like a baby (while a chewing gum hangs out of her mouth). But she got into the mix at the advent of Icelandic legend and she did get 2 Games podiums, but she couldn't handle the rest of her career. She started switching coaches...

Emma Gardner not going to college to train at CompTrain

@denisovich Yeah, it could be that the siren song of having world class coaches and a multi-time world champion minutes from her, and a promise of an Academy around them was too much for Emma and she jumped in. My assumption was that only the senior elites got paid by CompTrain, I don't know...
