Just for fun: what’s everyone’s favorite fitness/health “fact” that’s been debunked?

@chris151 lol yes! I don’t know if you remember but there were these tv ads back then about corn syrup that literally were fear mongering about how corn syrup was so much worse than sugar and it was going to be so bad for you blah blah. And it’s like, sure if that’s all you eat it might but it’s...

Just for fun: what’s everyone’s favorite fitness/health “fact” that’s been debunked?

@chris151 Because sugar is sugar whether it comes from fruit, sugar cane or is made into a syrup. Corn syrup is just a type of sugar. There is nothing better about “natural sugar” for you. What makes fruit and things not as bad for you isn’t because it’s natural sugar it’s because it contains...

Just for fun: what’s everyone’s favorite fitness/health “fact” that’s been debunked?

@dawn16 Please take your weird agenda to somewhere it’s relevant and leave all of us to focus on what this forum is really about. You’ve never provided anything of value to this forum and don’t seem interested in adding value to the topic of petite fitness. If you continue to push an agenda...

Just for fun: what’s everyone’s favorite fitness/health “fact” that’s been debunked?

@amiel164 Yup I agree. They need to step off and get out of here lol. That’s such a good one! Your body needs carbs and they are fabulously tasty as long as you balance them with other food groups EAT THE PASTA, BREAD AND MORE

Just for fun: what’s everyone’s favorite fitness/health “fact” that’s been debunked?

@dawn16 This forum really has nothing to do with weight. It’s about petite (people who are under 5’4) who are looking for a a safe and fun place to get healthier, get fitness tips etc. If that’s you and you are going to be a valuable participant in conversations than welcome and I hope you learn...

Just for fun: what’s everyone’s favorite fitness/health “fact” that’s been debunked?

@dawn16 And you know exactly what you are trying to do here by starting an argument. Again, you being obtuse in a Reddit about fitness and posting about vaccines is you just pushing buttons. Something tells me you aren’t even someone who has a reason to be in this Reddit which focuses on...

Just for fun: what’s everyone’s favorite fitness/health “fact” that’s been debunked?

@dawn16 Mmmm I am not so sure about this one. It does in a sense. No vaccine ever gives 100% protection but it can offer protection from serious symptoms and make it less likely you’ll spread it or get it. Let’s keep this fitness and health focused and not start a whole debate over vaccines...

Just for fun: what’s everyone’s favorite fitness/health “fact” that’s been debunked?

@marc123 Ooo yes. Closely followed by the YouTube core workouts we used to believe would give us abs back in the day 😂

Just for fun: what’s everyone’s favorite fitness/health “fact” that’s been debunked?

@midushi Yup boarding on underweight. It was the stupidest thing ever and I stopped seeing that doctor shortly after this. Even now at between 118 - 120 I still get it. I am on the higher end of healthy from a bmi perspective but I’m healthy otherwise and eat well.

Just for fun: what’s everyone’s favorite fitness/health “fact” that’s been debunked?

@lettuce Yes to all of this. I have had doctors tell me I need to lose weight even back when I was 4’10 and 90lbs as a competitive soccer player based on my BMI 🙄

Just for fun: what’s everyone’s favorite fitness/health “fact” that’s been debunked?

@lettuce Omg can we just throw the stupid thing out the window already? I have seen it do terrible things for people and their healthcare

Just for fun: what’s everyone’s favorite fitness/health “fact” that’s been debunked?

@aaren Yeah this one cracks me up cause like a pound is a pound. They are talking about the density which is very very different. A pound of each of these will be different sizes but weigh the same and that’s what people try to verbalize with that statement

Just for fun: what’s everyone’s favorite fitness/health “fact” that’s been debunked?

@davidmwebb Yessss! This is another big one for me. Your body literally can’t tell the difference. “Natural sugar” is healthy for everything else you get when you eat an apple or something not because the sugar is better for you then other sugar

Just for fun: what’s everyone’s favorite fitness/health “fact” that’s been debunked?

@autonomicrake When I was younger we never really had soda in the house cause my parents preferred iced tea, lemonade, juice etc but even when I had juice my dad would water it down. He waters down his own too so I never thought it was weird. Then when I played sports we didn’t even drink pure...

Just for fun: what’s everyone’s favorite fitness/health “fact” that’s been debunked?

@autonomicrake Agreed. But I take a step further and say that people need to stop villainizing sugar as well. Yes, in excess it’s bad for you like so many things but sugar is a natural thing that your body knows how to deal with in moderation. As long as you aren’t diabetic and aren’t drinking...

Just for fun: what’s everyone’s favorite fitness/health “fact” that’s been debunked?

@max2011 Oooof yes. This is such a loaded one. The base premise of weight loss is very simple but when you take into account the different pieces of it and individual bodies suddenly it’s not so simple and over simplifying can lead to less than desired results or unhealthy habits in either...

Just for fun: what’s everyone’s favorite fitness/health “fact” that’s been debunked?

@youshaa I think people just have a false idea of what organic means and those people flood the market with false advertising about it

    Changes n blood pressure?

@jash I wouldn’t worry about that. If your doctor wasn’t overly concerned I wouldn’t worry about it. A 1 time higher than normal reading is very very normal due to many reasons. If you are concerned call your doc and chat with them about it. Last time I went to the doc and they measured mine it...
