AMA: Megan Gallagher AKA MegSquats, creator of Stronger By The Day and Before The Barbell!

@joseph28 I knew what you meant but that still made me LOL. I imagined you slipping on a panini Loony Tunes-style. (hope your recovery is going well so far!)

Unconventional/overlooked glute builders for comatose (not just 'sleepy') booties!

@mhkyeung Wow, thanks! Like I said, I'm definitely not a dancer- but it was one of my New Year's resolutions to get more comfortable with it and try a lesson or two (before everything shut down). Will definitely take a look at those!

Unconventional/overlooked glute builders for comatose (not just 'sleepy') booties!

@mhkyeung I would love to know more about this. Whenever I've seen it I'm just stunned at how people can move such specific body parts so fluidly. I'm no dancer but I'd be delighted to at least know how to do some of it.

A question for runners with thick thighs

@timothysir For runners on a budget... I've had the best luck with looser fitting and longer shorts- nothing fancy either, just stuff I've gotten from Walmart. I bought a couple sizes up so that they sit lower on my waist (and more loosely there, too) and just adjusted them with the...

    Walkers in the house!!!!

@lordlover479 Speaking as someone who's injured themselves that way, be careful increasing your mileage too much at once. 2 -> 6 isn't bad over a bit of time, but you wouldn't want, for example, to run. 2 miles every day then suddenly jump to doing 6 a day or something like that. Better to build...

Do any of you just NOT have defined goals?

@mayne70 Yes! Personally I always fail the SMART goals I set. Too much pressure, too much perfectionism, and too much stress and obsessiveness. My best progress has come from ignoring timelines, measurements, etc. outside of feel better, run faster and lift heavier bit by bit. Even if I have a...

What’s your optimal workout time(s) and what time do you actually do it?

@hungry_hungry_hippo The earliest I can manage (effectively) is 10 am. I get up at 5 am daily to walk but that's fucking it. I do long runs, strength training, HIIT, etc...anything actually strenuous in the afternoon or evening. My body clock just does not work like a morning person's. I've...

What’s a little trick that made a huge difference in your form?

@bkrolex Oh wow, are you me? Same stats and same issues lol. I will absolutely try that tip. This may seem obvious, but an engaged core and good posture are the biggest game changers I've noticed. It's crazy how much work the muscles of your torso get even if your workout is entirely lower or...

Which workout videos have you enjoyed lately?

@warpur Another I haven't seen mentioned is the Gymra channel. It's a little more bare-bones, not a lot of distracting music (which I prefer) and different trainers to choose from. Different intensity levels too- there are some that are "meh" and others that felt like absolute murder.
