Hot take: ladies, is dating getting difficult after doing CrossFit?

@royblizzard Almost 40yo, mom of 3. The body I have now is completely different than the one I had when I was 20 (and dating). I was always a little soft, had boobs and curves. I started CrossFit about 10 years ago and got more serious into competing a few years ago. I’m now muscular, have no...

    Box Owner Question

@skizzik183 I’m not a gym owner or a coach but I thought this was interesting and relevant to the conversation so I will share it! I recently heard an owner of a gym who pays their coaches a bonus based on the number of attendees in the class. I think they get a base rate per class, something...

Just did 24.2. Gave it my all. Doing crossfit for 6 months. Did scaled.

@user911 This is my 9th open I think, and I didn’t do as well as some others in the gym or as well as I wanted to, either. But i showed up, and gave 100% of what i had today. That’s all we can ever do, right? You vs the workout! Consistency is key, keep showing up.

Breaking - Roman is injured (confirmed)

@lisa1971 It seems like there are some real inconsistencies in decisions surrounding when athletes are allowed to compete or not. How is it okay for Roman to get wrapped up with a broken foot and do double unders but Alexandre Caron gets pulled for a small pec tear? I don’t think there was a...

    Linda - women’s opinions?

@mixpanema Female here. Completing Linda RX has been a goal of mine for a couple years, which basically means improving my bench capacity. I can do BW but not 55 times (yet!).

Anyone else struggling with a skill that seems impossible to learn?

@jonathan_gale This is the beauty of CrossFit; you’ll always be struggling with something. Even the top athletes in the world have something they’re trying to get better at. Don’t stop to look up once in awhile and look at how far you’ve come! Sometimes the improvements can be so subtle you’re...

    Bad in bench press

@jakesmith99 This was me. I had to build in bench work outside of CF. I would go to a globo gym or workout outside of class time. It helped tremendously. I just kept it simple - 5x5 at 75-85% once a week, adding incrementally each week if possible. Bench press isn’t programmed very often in CF...

    Disappointed with my 24.1 result

@damj I didn’t do as well as I wanted to, and I’m a shorter athlete! Hang in there, it’s one workout. You still have 2 left to make up some ground. ETA: I would add that I’ve done quite a few comps and I’ve learned with this sport you HAVE to keep your head up when you get one bad workout. I’ve...

    C section and CrossFit

@flowful Mom of 3 here - all c sections. I started lifting about 12 weeks into recovery on my last baby. My number one piece of advice is do not rush the lifting or intense abdominal movements like toes to bar and GHD. I was going stir crazy and started lightly jogging about 4 weeks in. My doc...

    Joint health

@dreamsunderstood 40yo here, placed top 10% in open. A few things that keep me healthy and competing: 1) make sure you are eating adequately to support activity. Track your protein at a minimum. 2) mobility every day. Pickup a copy of Becoming a Supple Leopard if you don’t have it 3) select...

    CrossFit burnout?

@bonlin I actually am in a similar boat, have been CrossFitting for about the same period of time. Worked hard in that time getting myself to a point where I can hang at some of the more regional comps each year as a master athlete. I decided I was never going to improve My snatch and C&J if I...

    Metcons and weight management

@orthodoxlady1994 This! Nutrition is super important. Track your protein, eliminate alcohol if you consume it. That will get you 85%+ there!

    Millennial here

@childofgodforever For me, I didn’t make real progress until I started watching my nutrition. I bet if you kept all other things the same but gave that your attention you’d see some changes pretty quickly.

How do you pump yourself up to go hard?

@allthingsarebecomenew Go for it! Find a gym with solid coaches and they will help you scale appropriately as you learn. Good luck and have fun!

How do you pump yourself up to go hard?

@allthingsarebecomenew Ah, yeah that can happen. You could try sipping on protein mixed with water and/or Gatorade mixed with water during your training session. I like to do that because I don’t like food in my stomach when working out and gives me a bit of carbs and protein. Also, re-reading...
