[QUESTION] initial weight for a 15y/o

@justg If you are doing simple and sinister, 12kg for swings and 8kg for get ups to dial the form down (everything should look perfect.). Then 4kg jumps with two weeks between jumps after he can handle the test conditions with perfect form. The swings should be crisp and the getups...

S&S question. 5 minutes for swings or 1:1 rest?

@lostandfound2000 How you do the swings is on you. But generally you are going to focus on getting the work time a bit lower without losing power. You can watch a few SFGs do their Simple or Sinister test on YouTube and some do 10 second rest, others do it faster with 15. WHile you are...

    Question from a russian dude

@cavitill The whole get fit with weights of any kind is more popular in the US than it is in most other places, and the other places where it is getting popular is a cultural export of the US (even if they have their own tradition of it 100+ years ago).

    Question from a russian dude

@cavitill I have Russian friends who grew up in the 90s, they tell me that they have seen them around, and it would be something that they remember boys lifting at school, but they never personally touched one and don't really know what to do with it. One of my friends associates them with me...

    Question from a russian dude

@nelsa89 I suspect its more or less pretty obscure in Russia. Much of the Hard Style stuff was popularized in the US by Pavel and Co. There are countless references in the books by American and other western trainers who contributed to the body of work that we associate with hard style...

    Question from a russian dude

@sk213 There is a lot of myth around all this, I am not certain what is backed up by history and what is lore. In some of the books they mention that Kettlebells in Russia came in like two or three sizes and the suspect that during the Soviet times it was probably just due to the weird...

    Question from a russian dude

@sk213 Modern Russian Kettlebell competitors use two bells at the same time for lifts like the double clean and jerk (long cycle). The weights are sold from several vendors, from gym supply stores to specialty kettlebell stores, which are generally online only. Kettlebell Kings for...

Looking for a cardio exercise like swimming the backstroke (x-post /r/bodyweightfitness)

@jim35215 The closest thing a kettlebell would have to a long steady swim would be a very light snatch that you space out your reps a bit. But I still think fewer reps in less time would have more to offer.

    Only S&S?

@joellemarie197 I started doing getups and swings in early 2015 and then started doing S&S by the book in early 2016, pretty much 5-7 days per week up until November 2017 or so. I eventually got up to doing it with 40kg but I never really timed myself and was never in a huge rush. I did...

    16kg vs 20kg

@lordhelps86 Whatever you get started on shoot for 24kg and then 32kg. The book recommends that men need a 16kg, 24kg, and 32kg set.

    Damaged shoulder from push press

@dawn16 The only drills I go beyond 5 reps are the swing and snatch. That is it. Everything else is 5 or fewer and I put the weights down and shake off the tension.

    Damaged shoulder from push press

@riccardoj No. However as a point of safety I never go a minute nonstop with something like the push press. Small muscles can give out and cause injuries. With the program I am doing I do push presses only on Wednesdays and its a double push press for 5 reps per set. Setting the bells down...
