Is it weird I’m rarely sore after weight machines?

So I’m doing a circuit of 11 machines. Leg extension, press, curl, lat pull down, bicep curl, triceps, shoulder press, chest press, seated row, abdominal crunch and back extension. I have a strength test every 2 weeks and the weight is adjusted based on that. I’ve consistently moved up in...

    Impedance body scans

@cristofar This is a good tip! Funny thing though, my scale is underestimating by about 7%

    Impedance body scans

@sanj79 Thanks. I’m being a bit hyperbolic in that I just got the Tru Scan at my gym yesterday that came back 37% which was really disappointing

    Impedance body scans

@steve12 I had a dexa last year in July and intend to have them yearly My last dexa put me at 40% But since then I’ve lost 18 pounds (for me >10% if my total body weight) and committed to 3x weekly weight training when I was doing none. I hope I’ve done better than 3% improvement in a year...

    Impedance body scans

I happened to have access to two different body composition scans in the past month, and I have a smart scale at home. The three different readings for body fat percentage were 28.4%, 33.2%, 37.1% I know impedance scans are notoriously inaccurate, but an 8.7% range seems crazy. FYI I’m 5’6 147...

    High BF% not overweight

@sanj79 Are the free weight portions such that I could walk into the gym alone and do them?

    High BF% not overweight

@sanj79 It does. I do think I would need a trainer to work through this with me, as I have never used free weights

    High BF% not overweight

@sanj79 Well The muscle building mode takes you through three types of lifting Negative- where it seems heavier bringing it down or back than pushing up or forward (if that makes sense) Adaptive-the machine changes weight with each rep Explonic-you push/pull nice and easy to warm up then you...

@sanj79 They are basically like cybex type machines but are automated so they adjust the weight, and equipment to you when you scan in. It also keeps track of workouts and gives a controlled lift and release guide on a screen So are you against using machines of any kind?

    Tell me I’m not crazy

@liz869802 Currently I’m 5’6 and 154 pounds. When I do cardio my fitness tracker has me at burning around 2000cal/day. If I’m sedentary it puts me at 1650. I just plugged it into a tdee calculator which also put me at 2000 for moderate exercise. 1000-1250 cal day would give me a 1.5-2 pound wr...

    High BF% not overweight

@enquizzicalpeep Thanks! I have tried it and think it has some benefit, mostly because it keeps me mindful of my grazing. My main problem right now isn’t getting the scale moving as much as my concern about my body composition.

@anne_l I have an impedance scale at home and use the inbody at the gym. I thought the inbody would be more accurate than my scale but who knows. I am adding weight, I fact in all my strength tests today I went up!

@liz869802 Also I was always taught one pound loss =3500 calorie deficit, not 7000. Am I mistaken?

    High BF% not overweight

@anne_l My weight was pretty close to the same though the Dexa was last July. I think I’m losing muscle because I’ve been doing monthly inbody scans, which while not nearly as accurate as a Dexa, is accessible and I have unlimited scans available. It has indicated a muscle mass decrease. When...

    Tell me I’m not crazy

@sanj79 It wasn’t me the OP who objected to your comment. I go to a gym that has egym machines. They are basically the usual weight machines but they are automated to give you a strength test on each machine then set a weight and reps for you automatically each time you scan your bracelet. I do...
