Ladies, how long did it take you to lose your first 10lb?

@stosa CICO, two weight workouts a week. I don’t aim for any particular step count but I walk a couple times a week. I’m actually pretty sedentary! Patience and consistency.

Ladies, how long did it take you to lose your first 10lb?

@regadoo At this point you will do well to lose a pound a month without busting your ass in an unsustainable way. I just ate and exercised for my goal weight and forgot about it. Eventually I got there.

Idk how ppl in this sub are able to do low cal w/ 100 g+ of protein daily and workout so rigorously- I’m struggling with 1700 cals😭

@dikaioumenoi I eat a lot of vegetables and not many grains. I don’t go over 160-180 cals for a protein shake. For 300 cals, eat a bag of greens, a fruit, and get a serving of protein. Volume eating is the way to go.

How Long Are Your Lifting Sessions?

@gotquestion You are lifting too fast. Go for a slowish count of 3 up, 3 to 5 down, and rest between sets.

For those of you who’ve recruited a professional, how’d it go?

@mikethomasahn I have a fabulous trainer now I see once a week for lifting. She keeps my form solid so I can lift heavier and I can be very efficient in that hour. The last one was a mess (she eating issues and relationship problems which were obvious and had a negative impact on her work) and...

    I’m 38. I’ve been told I won’t get to what I was even when I was 34

@supernova1044 I’m 60 and consistantcy is more important than spending ridiculous amounts of time in the gym. I lift twice a week for less than an hour and walk. I look better than I did in my 30s when it was all cardio. Good luck!

A weird trick I just discovered

@mihai_1991 That was a general comment not directed at you in particular.

A weird trick I just discovered

@mihai_1991 Just don’t overdose gang! A multi plus a supplement plus energy drinks and you are overdoing it. Yes it is water soluble but that crap is hard on your kidneys and if you end up dehydrated you can cause yourself some problems.

I’m 20 and 5’2” but very stressed about maintaining my weight

@gailsie I lost weight and keep it off lifting 2x/week and walking or the equivalent 2/x and I’m small. Just start out in balance and you will be fine. You don’t have to live in the gym.

Can 3 days in the gym be good enough?

@luin31 Look up powerlifting workouts. Combo lifts.

Can 3 days in the gym be good enough?

@luin31 I lost weight and kept it off lifting heavy twice a week and walking. Three should be plenty.

Is it just me or do we get ignored at parties/bars because we’re short? like people can’t see or notice us in the crowd

@woollybear Yes, because I don’t have problems in situations that aren’t crowded/people are sitting.

How do you pump yourself up to go hard?

@allthingsarebecomenew Just remember that consistency is more important. Better to give 75% and keep going week in week out with a burst here and there than get hung up on going too hard and flame out. This is one area in which mediocrity will serve you excellently if you watch your food intake.

    Diet Q

@neahkahnie I eat 7% fat grass fed organic ground beef frequently. My blood lipids are perfect. To each their own. I would not go no carb. I suggest you do some reading on nutrition. Basically in spite of the controversy you need to look at family history and what feels good in your body. Also...

Switching to sculpt/low weight workouts to lean out?

@me1111 16-17% is bordering on an unhealthy fat percentage and is going to be difficult to maintain, imo. Women in general need 17% minimum to sustain normal hormonal function. Osteoporosis isn’t good. Also, as I said, it depends on what you want to look like, but also how much time you want to...

    Help with calorie deficits

@phil4367 That’s pushing it. Just keep doing what you are doing and see how it goes. You could up your steps but if you eat too little your workouts will suffer and a binge is inevitable.

Switching to sculpt/low weight workouts to lean out?

@virtualhope If you are 5’1 and 130 and look “bulky” you probably just need to lose some weight. If your body fat percentage is over 20-22% I would try that first. Also, your calories seem low for your weight and the amount of exercise you do so I’m wondering what’s up with that. I would get my...

    I hate working out

@sriram What helped me was giving up the battle. I just ate at maintenance for my ideal weight and exercised for health (lifted 2x/week which I actually like) and walked whenever. I ultimately got down to my ideal weight range and maintain it easily even if I go off the rails a little over the...

    5’1” goal weight

@laveena123 People are shaped very differently and some carry more bone and muscle. It really is individual.
