    Am I working out wrong? .... 22y/o - 5'8" - 147 Lb

@dawn16 Definitely agree with the good form. My squat is my best lift because I skate every day around campus and that has always been my strongest muscle group. I've taken creatine in the past, it worked pretty well but nowadays I don't even take pre-workout I just eat a lot of oatmeal and I...

    Am I working out wrong? .... 22y/o - 5'8" - 147 Lb

@aletha Super helpful advice. I appreciate it. I'll be reporting back in this group in like 6 months. Hoping to be around 170 lb with a big bulky chest and some proportionate muscles. I got the food plan on lock, need to just plan my routines for the next 6 months. I've also been eating...

    Am I working out wrong? .... 22y/o - 5'8" - 147 Lb

@donray yeah I agree about the programs working, but what I meant to say originally was the plan I've been going off of the last 6 months is just some shit I made and put together lol. Wasn't the most tailor made program compared to some of the ones people have been posting. I'll take a look at...

@galactusthedevourer I was looking at the 5/3/1 it looks like a completely different program from PPL? A lot of people were recommending PPL. I might try a week of both programs and see which one I feel more from

    Am I working out wrong? .... 22y/o - 5'8" - 147 Lb

@babe83612 yeah it's true, I really haven't been approaching the gym in a smart way for the last year or longer. Which particular program would you recommend? Been seeing a lot of PPL/PPL & PHAT floating around. Did a quick google search and seems like there's so many variations of those...

    Am I working out wrong? .... 22y/o - 5'8" - 147 Lb

@btrailor Yeah I got a lot of good results when I was working in this rep range. The last couple weeks I've been trying to experiment with lower reps to increase strength but I'm going to go back up. Need to fix my form and get my baseline strength equally developed before I go into the lower...

@trumpeter2 Does isolation help? I think for chest it would definitely be good idea. I read somewhere isolation is better when you have a pretty good build going and the isolation exercises help chisel the particular body part being isolated, but for someone like me compound exercises are key...

    Am I working out wrong? .... 22y/o - 5'8" - 147 Lb

@beckywantstosmile Lol yeah I guess I am lucky in that sense. I see a lot of dudes at the gym with bad gyno. That shit is so gross, not worth it. Although if you're talking about just having fat mantits, that's fixable I think. Keep the grind up though!

    Am I working out wrong? .... 22y/o - 5'8" - 147 Lb

@kiddoleknocker Yeah I agree, someone recommended trying out a 5x20 bench to get some burn goin. I'm going to take a look through some of the workout posted here and start on my next 10-12 week program. Interesting thing I saw too was de-loading after 6-10 weeks or something like that. I don't...

    Am I working out wrong? .... 22y/o - 5'8" - 147 Lb

@kiddoleknocker I think people can bench more because they have good form. Only until recently have I noticed my bench form is decent, but someone mentioned earlier I need heavier volume. For most of my gym life I've done 6-8 rep range for 3-4 sets. Going to start doing 5x15 or so for a while to...

    Am I working out wrong? .... 22y/o - 5'8" - 147 Lb

@dashdash That's true! But which one is designed for someone in my level of strength and progress? From what I've been reading on this thread I should begin with high rep range and lower weights to establish more mind-muscle connection. Really feel the burn with the lower weight. Then after a...

    Am I working out wrong? .... 22y/o - 5'8" - 147 Lb

@fibak Thankyou for the advice! I've been piggybacking off a routine my friend was doing which seemed to be working for him, but clearly I'm going to need to create a custom plan for myself. Will definitely be implementing higher reps with lower weight. Definitely know what you mean about the...

    Am I working out wrong? .... 22y/o - 5'8" - 147 Lb

@agnostic2christ Yeah I agree with that. I think I do too much ego-lifting. Whenever I do super low weight but high reps I feel more of a burn and pump than heavy weight ironically. I'm sure there's a scientific explanation to it, but I know I need to fix my routine now before I start to injure...

    Am I working out wrong? .... 22y/o - 5'8" - 147 Lb

@histruth I'm going to try out the 6 day on 1 day rest for a little while. Doing a PPL/PPL/R 3 days hypertrophy & 3 days strength. Keeping track of my volume though. Someone earlier posted this great article. https://renaissanceperiodization.com/training-volume-landmarks-muscle-growth/ I'll see...

    Am I working out wrong? .... 22y/o - 5'8" - 147 Lb

@histruth Now 1 question I had about the PHUL workout. It seems to be only 4 days a week. It's good that every muscle set is hit twice a week, but do I need a 6 day routine with 1 day rest like PPL/PPL/R or PPL/R/PPL/? 4 days seems more doable in terms of rest time. Not sure if 6 days would be...
