What kind of protein do you take?

@raitmet GNC is full of shit. Buy whatever you want from them obviously but those kind of claims are not supported by science. You need to aim for .8g of protein per pound of body weight and honestly, any kind of protein you can get is better than none. Certainly there are some proteins that are...

What kind of protein do you take?

@raitmet I buy both whey and plant based protein powder from Costco. I’m not sure what you mean by “claims to make in 8”.

Is there a way to hit higher levels of protein without taking protein shakes ?

@harmony77 Do you like cottage cheese? You can add it to eggs and pancakes to boost your protein. It is great with fruit. You can add it to salsa too. I enjoy chips that have protein in them. Quest makes some but I got another brand from Costco-forget what it is called-sorry. Whey protein powder...

    I literally can’t gain weight

@jessiengerman A couple things…get blood work done including thyroid levels. Second, actually track what you are eating. Eat as much protein as you weigh. Do not overtrain. You do need to train to failure but over training hurts progress.

    Should I fix my routine?

@pulangc4 It’s important to give your body recovery time. Adding muscle takes a long time so be in it for the long haul. You can cut once you have bulked up for more definition.

Can I lose weight with just cardio?

@mwas Does the burn mean you cannot lift anymore? The idea is to lift as much as you can to the point where your reps are within say two of failure. So let’s say I do ten bench presses at 70 lbs with quality form but I cannot do more than two more-like I could not lift a 12 th time or if I can...

    Reasons/motivation to workout

@sparklepaws23 I enjoy lifting weights. You certainly do not have to do something every day. I would try for a shorter session 3-5 days a week and work up to more. Habits take time to build. If you set yourself up for failure by demanding you fit it in every day for at least an hour, then you...

Can I lose weight with just cardio?

@mwas Walking in addition to what you do in office would be great for overall health-cardiovascular and blood sugar control. It is important in building muscle to be close to failure. So say I lift ten pounds ten times-with that tenth rep, do I only have maybe one or two more I could do? That’s...

Can I lose weight with just cardio?

@angelbaby35 Protein intake goal: 100 g per day and strength training. This helps you retain lean muscle during weight loss. To determine your maintenance calories, track for 2-3 weeks at a stable weight. So not trying to diet but just normal eating for you. Then you subtract from there based on...

    Started Walking - What’s Next?

@pell Strength Training is actually better than cardio for not only weight loss but long term weight loss because you need to change your relative body composition from a higher fat % with less lean mass to more lean mass with a lower fat %. Muscle has a higher caloric need than other tissues. I...

For the life of me I can’t retract my left scapula

@rachelm2535 My daughter injured her elbow but it ended up traveling up into her shoulder and causing scar tissue which limited her movement several years later. We did not make the connection until her pediatrician (who she was still seeing) was going over her previous injuries and feeling the...

    1 month today

@enilorac Fasting can be a good tool but ultimately, you lose weight because you are in a calorie deficit and normally lose water weight first. Also, you need to consider adding resistance training to your regime rather than focusing on cardio. This is because it helps ensure you are losing more...
