@sarange If you have your personal MRV, MV and MEV then it applies to you. The numbers he provides are general average for intermediate lifters. Without adjusting them to your needs they are worthless.

Does anyone else think that the leg press is a superior quad builder compared to conventional barbell squats?

@jinxy Yes absolutely, and it's sad how loud the people are who read the 5x5 book. At the start it states something like barbell is best because...crickets... ehm they are best. Also we have some studies showing how the leg press is better since years but the barbell dogma is too loud online.

My extremely weird workout split that worked wonders for me

@embracer In your example she would do triceps with 6 lbs and reach "failure" that isn't very taxing.

@embracer The woman can't even get close to real failure, doesn't have that ability.

My extremely weird workout split that worked wonders for me

@embracer So if 2 ppl do a hard set of squats to failure who is going to be more out of breath and who can do another set of similar performance faster - a small beginner woman or a huge juicy strong bodybuilder?

@nadeen I disagree. There is much more than just local fatigue.

As an experienced lifter are we shortchanging progress at all by doing a little cut to a 'beach leanness' each year?

@jamierite74 Matthias Steiner (German olympia lifter) was 150 kg. Later lost that weight and except for chest looked amazing. At that weight you surely can hold onto more muscle and then afterwards you probably can regain a fraction of it. But he doesn't look that amazing especially if you...
