What does r/fitness not understand about CrossFit?

@aaronemill12 Maybe for the open classes but for any of the weight class strongman/women crossfit is a great complement to strongman training. Being in shape and being able to recover and working on mobility and all the other things crossfit makes you do are things strongman/women should be...

What does r/fitness not understand about CrossFit?

@richard11 How I respond to someone in r/fitness is vastly different than how I would respond to someone in r/weightroom

What does r/fitness not understand about CrossFit?

@richard11 Most people still think of crossfit as the meme of people doing movements they don't know, at a pace they shouldn't be doing, with weights they shouldn't be handling. Fitness is a beginner forum and people there should be treated as such.

How to keep motivated to workout daily when stuck in the 9-5 corporate cycle?

@abnerpublishing It's not that hard? Workout in the mornings. Or whenever. Unless your commute is ungodly long you have plenty of time I work like 8 to 4, train after work, dinner and like an hour or two to relax.

hybrid functional strength programs? also... avoiding the big 4 nonsense

@sharkbait13 There might be a good reason for that

How do you keep energised at work without surgery snacks when dieting?

@derekthegreatii The thing is sugar cravings go away. Smoking doesn't. To say that simple carbohydrates are as addictive as nicotine is misunderstanding of the chemical processes that go into addiction. It's absurd

Half-Marathon in 7 weeks for someone who hasn’t run in at least 5 years. Doable?

@ryan5o Strongman training. So for that time is was heavy overhead or deads, then heavy bss bulgarian split squats and then atlas stones. Basically it was a hard and heavy day and my longest runs usually came the day after.

Half-Marathon in 7 weeks for someone who hasn’t run in at least 5 years. Doable?

@ryan5o Well there's no eccentrics and/or impact with indoor cycling, and that's the part that beats you up while running. A big part of training for any longer distances is that you are gonna have to run on tried legs. The first x miles are easy, it's the last couple that are gonna be hard...

Half-Marathon in 7 weeks for someone who hasn’t run in at least 5 years. Doable?

@ryan5o Nah, it's pretty easy to pick up for the casual runner. I trained for a 50k last year, and I was able to wrap my head around it. These are my recommendations go to a running store (not Walmart, and real running store)and get good shoes. For real this will help a ton with injuries of...

Half-Marathon in 7 weeks for someone who hasn’t run in at least 5 years. Doable?

@ryan5o To finish? Yeah thats totally doable. You're gonna work on running technique so you don't accrue any injuries training and on the day of. You also don't need to run the distance before the actual race. Get some good shoes now. Try to run 2 to 3 times a week, with one of those being...

How do you keep energised at work without surgery snacks when dieting?

@calvinabume Yes, they both trigger dopamine. So does literally anything you do that you enjoy. There is no mechanism by which one can become addicted to simple sugars. There is nothing You also can't stop consuming sugar because your brain quite literally runs off it. What do you think...

Ways to increase strength safely but quickly ? Am I being too hard on myself?

@alphatuff I'm not familiar with any of those programs so I guess I can't speak to how good they might me. But, if you're making progress and enjoying yourself, that's more than good enough

Half-Marathon in 7 weeks for someone who hasn’t run in at least 5 years. Doable?

@johnnylester211 I mean, it's not like their going from zero to marathon, and the goal is to finish, which worlds easier than trying to push a decent pace. All of your worries are basically taken care of with proper shoes, non dumbass running technique, and not pushing it to hard. Humans are...

Half-Marathon in 7 weeks for someone who hasn’t run in at least 5 years. Doable?

@ryan5o I wouldn't be. You're more likely to get hurt driving to the race than training for it.

Question: taller at doctor's office because of better posture?

@outbriefcandle If you struggled with your posture in the past, then yes, better posture could easily add 1/2 an inch to your overall height

    Need advice regarding my training

@blessedmom4 I would take a look at Joe Defranco's stuff. You should lift weights if you want to get stronger, and taking your joints through their full ROM while under load is a great way to increase and maintain mobility He's got some newer stuff/programs that I'm not super familiar with but...

Had insane growth then suddenly no growth, what gives?

@hteezy Have you increased the volume or weight used at all? How much weight have you gained? What program are you actually running? It's very likely you have just hit a plateau with your currenr diet and training, which everyone does eventually. Progreas is not linear most of the time.

I’m over 30, and actually think I’m made of glass

@goodbookguy I wouldn't worry about it if there's no pain. Bodies/joint make noise. You might want to try a longer warm up or something but popping alone isn't enough to raise a real alarm
