Diamond pushups use more chest than wide pushups (from a study that also examined standard, pseudo-planche and simplified Lalanne pushups)

@thomaslowrens I thought this was a body weight exercise subreddit? What's the point of doing body weight exercises if the only true progression is to add weight eventually? Like a Raw Food subreddit where the progression in culinary skill leads you to just cooking your food.

    Pilates-tok?

@seekinganswersinlife It's not. Lifting with progressive overload will always be most effective. Unless they are increasing the difficulty of the exercise regularly, which is difficult to do with high rep exercises, they're not going to make significant progress. Calisthenics with increasing...

    Body exercises for the obese?

@nickale Squat, pushup, and plank. 3-5 sets of as many reps as you can manage with good form. Your size will probably keep you from performing the moves in the "traditional" postures, but it's okay to modify the exercises to your current ability. Do pushups against a wall or counter. Do squats...

I [18F] kinda dislike going to the gym and being active and I don’t know how to fix it

@anylene Do you follow a program? Bear in mind if you’re looking to lose weight then your diet is very important. In terms of the bodies you see online - consistency over years and good programming. You have to follow a plan and consistently overload your muscles. Just going to a gym and...

6 MONTHS PROGRESS - No before photo :(

@cece_lee16 this is probably TMI but i spent the last year and half spiraling downward, to the point where i was self harming once again badly and attempted suicide, yay mental illness. when you have the mentality that things are going to end soon there wasn't much drive to do much but the path...

    Body transformation 4 years

@arrows It's not as easy but very achievable. Like OP says, consistency is the most important thing. I'm 53, do 30 mins of strength training 6 days a week and (I'm told) look great. Most importantly, I feel great. Just do it.

    Pilates-tok?

@draculkain I’ve went down that rabbit hole of misinformation and believing in it (I fell for fat burning pills and 1200 cal diet). What really pulled me out of believing everything was changing who I followed. My favorite quote to go by is from Brianna Jewel who makes amazing fitness critique...

What do y’all think of speakeasy gyms?

@stthomaschristian I could be wrong about this idea but shouldn’t we want as many healthy people to get it as possible? Even if there is a vaccine it seems like there are good/some chances it becomes seasonal and gradually mutates. The more healthy people that get it that have mild or no...

Frustrated about body size and TDEE

@johnjs37 That’s exactly why I’m bulking. MORE MUSCLE=FASTER METABOLISM. You absolutely can eat more food without gaining, you just need to put in some work first. I am 5’ and currently maintaining at 1800. My old maintenance was 1600. I’m now working on getting it up to 2000 (or more 😆)
