Anyone done PPL once a week with success?

@thebelovedofgod It doesn’t take “significantly” longer though, thats incorrect. The research shows its like a 10-20% difference, and narrows quickly as you gain. If science isnt your thing just take a look at the real world, plenty of guys get big very quickly off of once per week frequency...

Anyone done PPL once a week with success?

@thebelovedofgod You can still get 8-10 sets in a session which is very close to the optimal range. Plus, muscle growth is logarithmic and the gap between optimal and suboptimal narrows quickly over time. In the medium to long term, you end up at the same spot. Possibly even quicker on a 3 day...

Anyone done PPL once a week with success?

@thebelovedofgod Periodization doesn’t solve the problem. Still taxing on the joints regardless, and has the potential for overuse. Also a light day isnt doing shit for growth, so you’re basically only getting good stimulus on the heavy day and maybe a little on the medium day. At that point...

Anyone done PPL once a week with success?

@thebelovedofgod Agree to disagree at the upper level intermediate and advanced level. Benching 275-315 on monday and then coming in again on wednesday to do anything serious for chest is laughable. Its hard enough to survive even twice a week for those trainees, 3 is complete overkill.

Anyone done PPL once a week with success?

@thebelovedofgod Ive tried both, when you’re big and have been training awhile hitting every muscle 3 days a week is difficult and hard on your joints. 3 day PPL gave me far better results.

I just strained my rotator cuff. About 2 weeks in, can't lift for 4 more weeks. What adjustments should I make?

@dtik9 You can usually get away with a lot of stuff in your 30s still before it really starts to catch up with you in your 40s, 50s and beyond

I just strained my rotator cuff. About 2 weeks in, can't lift for 4 more weeks. What adjustments should I make?

@dtik9 Not surprising at all giving the split you’re doing - your shoulder girdle is getting hammered to hell almost 6 days a week. Recipe for shoulder problems Read anything from lyle mcdonald on split sequencing to pick something which is more shoulder-friendly...

    4 day split? (25 y/o)

@lamporful Bingo. I always blow up on upper lower. It leaves more time for recovery of the joints and CNS in comparison to PPL. While still getting nice frequency and adequate volume. Key is to train with intensity since you’re doing less.

    4 day split? (25 y/o)

@don720 Amen. I’ve spent a year cutting from getting too fat. It’s a huge pain in the ass. You tend to always have more fat than you think if you’re bear mode.

Anyone done PPL once a week with success?

@darksoul999 Its an amazing split. So many people burn out or suffer joint issues on 6 day PPL. Ive found 3 days to be the sweet spot for long term sustainability. Ben howard trains like this.
