Are weighted pull ups even worth it?

@vinod367 My back is pretty developed, so I’m opting for supinated on one back exercise. My arms could use more development so I’m adding that in. Plus, it’s fun. And I think that element is underrated by lifters. You’ll try harder on a movement you enjoy. But I’d prioritize back (pronated grip)...

Is it dumb to offset calories the next day?

@awoods88 My rule is that it’s fine to offset calories BEFORE an event. But trying to catch up after is a lost cause. You have something to look forward to in the first case and a real moment you can alleviate the hunger. But going from eating a ton of food to cutting below normal diet numbers...

Are weighted pull ups even worth it?

@vinod367 I think Dr Mike’s and others’ form policing is just as much an ego thing as adding weight. I’m about 80 kg and I added weight once I got to 12 reps on pull-ups. Why? Because it was the top of my 8-12 rep range. I’m not going to treat it like it’s some special lift that can’t be...

Are weighted pull ups even worth it?

@vinod367 I personally include getting my face to the bar for progression for this reason: it encourages going to and beyond failure. Once I barely get my chin over the bar I have somewhere between 1-3 reps left where I can get my face to the bar. Why leave those in the tank? Pull-ups are...

    A storm in a teacup

@kate930 The only advice most people on this sub need: 1. Train hard. 2. Eat enough food. There’s loads of nuance, but most people are messing up one of these.

None of my bulks (lean or dirty) ever seem to result in any muscle gain, and I honestly really don't know what I'm doing wrong at this point

@indybap When I do hack squats, I’ve literally been told people thought every one of my last four reps would be my last rep—and I still probably had 2 reps in the tank!

@mecajunboy Agree with probably too little intensity. But I do 24 sets on upper body days with plenty of intensity and get close to or to failure on at least a handful of sets. It’s totally doable, just brutal. You do acclimate eventually. I’m an inch and a half taller than him and 40 lbs...
