How do you make exercise not about weight loss?

@uticus Goals! Of the SMART variety (it's an acronym). Some good weightlifting goals can be picking up x% of your bodyweight (for deadlift - being able to pick yourself up is a great starter goal) or improving your Wilks score or other similar system or moving up a level on strength standards...

Puny person in upstairs apartment adding barbell to routine

@rob01 Exactly! The full cage is really not much more room than a half or a stand when you have the bench inside. I mean if you are actually going to fold the bench away between lifting it saves a little, but c'mon, no way am I going to do that! Like you, I super prefer a home gym. Way easier...

How do I stop feeling bad as black girl about no longer being ‘thicc’, partying, drinking, etc?

@oikonomia I'd cut out the fitsogram kind of accounts and add more feeds with cute picture of birds (or doggos, cats, horses, dinosaurs, whatever makes you personally go awwww!), cool landscapes, stuff that makes you actually happy to see! If you enjoy the medium itself, you don't need to cut it...

Puny person in upstairs apartment adding barbell to routine

@rob01 Absolutely recommend just going for a full cage! It really helps with confidence and if you do fail, ensures nothing is going to slam on your apartment floors either. We built one ourselves, but option 3 is a similar design. This works well for squats, bench, and overhead press for me...

How do I have productive weightlifting sessions when it's my C priority activity?

@jeanjason0209 I run the regular Juggernaut 2.0 program from the book. He has some good videos explaining the training as well. It is a cyclical periodization program, which really helps me with avoiding over training, so I can make progress without wrecking me for other activities.

How do I have productive weightlifting sessions when it's my C priority activity?

@jeanjason0209 I run the Juggernaut program by Chad Wesley Smith for this reason. It is meant to complement althletes main training programs. My only warning is to not run it at max-max right away. It is a lot of volume at first! It is more days a week than you currently do, but shorter sessions...
