[12-Week Challenge] Week 6 and Quarter 2 Updates

@denice65 Posted about this, haven't been consistent with workouts (or pushing it much) bc of illness and other interruptions; got back to it, and saw strength improvements beyond what I expected. I wanted to not have fuckarounditis but now I am, because I am trying to make sense of this...

FML: Heavy lifting made me look like I was in liver failure

@halifax24 Crazy! What did your GP say about it? Def from lifting, not one of these things? Maybe one of the weirder one? http://www.mayoclinic.org/symptoms/elevated-liver-enzymes/basics/causes/sym-20050830

    Discepline v.s. soreness

@graceunstoppable I'm going to get downvoted... I'm aiming for better consistency and also having this issue. I have past injuries, though, and am 40. Because of this, my personal policy is to not push through too much pain. I do do active recovery on off days. (Light swimming or cycling -...

[12-Week Challenge] Week 6 and Quarter 2 Updates

@petercheck12 I'm not a sweet person but for going out, it has helped to eat a bit less for lunch, get a cardio workout in that day or the next, and stick to either vodka sodas or a bitter beer that will take me a while to get through. It's not the season for it where I am but that's Guinness in...

My doctor called me fat. My tests show otherwise

@dawn16 I go to a clinic focused on sports medicine that also treats a wider population.

My doctor called me fat. My tests show otherwise

@dawn16 that's not clear at all, certainly can't be determined from the info presented here I go to that kind of clinic too. The split is still a) active people/athletes and b) overweight / obese people, diabetics, etc. There is not usually a lot of overlap between the two groups.

My doctor called me fat. My tests show otherwise

@dawn16 For most overweight people, weight is a good enough proxy for fat. It's good enough that the stats are what they are. I agree that body fat % is often totally neglected when it comes to people in the normal weight BMI category. That needs to be addressed. (I myself am having issues...

My doctor called me fat. My tests show otherwise

@dawn16 Well, yes, because being overweight is correlated with diabetes, atherosclerosis, heart disease, arthritis... Being obese/overweight is bad in two ways, one because it's just too much mass and weight for bones etc., two because excess adipose tissue contributes to endocrinological...

@kobidobidog yeah but how many calories is a big mac? (i know a quarter cheese is 540, just never went for the big mac)

My doctor called me fat. My tests show otherwise

@dawn16 I replied above about that. Yeah I think it's important to trust your subjective sense of well being for lots of things - at least, when things feel really wrong, they are usually wrong - but that's just a snapshot of the present day. For the slower-to-build problems, like with...

My doctor called me fat. My tests show otherwise

@dawn16 To me it sounds like he's responsible and gives a shit about his patients. His bedside manner could probably be improved, no doubt, but I bet he is sick of people not even able to tolerate being told how much they actually weigh, and then seeing the other end of it when they end up...
