Are weighted pull ups even worth it?

@vinod367 Weighted pull-ups aren’t just worth it. I would argue that unless you have a particular propensity for another back exercise, weighted pull-ups are the GOAT back builder once you pass the utility of the stock standard barbell row & its siblings. Nobody should be choosing just one...

Quitting sugar --- healthy or too restrictive?

@jesse1354 The all or nothing mentality is quite detrimental for most people. You don’t need to quit sugar, you need to moderate your intake. If you can’t handle even a bite, don’t have a bite. If I have a sweet craving I eat fruit. At least fruit has nutrients and fibre. If I’m “addicted” to...

I Was Fired from a Fitness Studio for Not Being Active Enough

@ctian25 That kind of thing is normal, even expected at fitness businesses. The first thing I had to do at my last fitness job was loose weight, I’d basically been on a permanent bulk for years chasing strength PR’s. I looked like a cuddly teddy, but they needed a guy in beast mode not bear...

    Question about stubborn upper arms!

@nbooi Arms are a bitch. They’re one of those body parts that, for some, stay fat until the rest of you is lean. Keep cutting until they budge, sorry their isn’t much more can be done. If @15-20% BF you still don’t like your arms... then maybe look into other options.

I did GtG with weighted dead bugs for 3 months and got a lot of core strength gains

@jeanvaljean Dead bugs should be, IMHO, the first abdominal exercise a person masters before any other. Learning to use your TA properly is essential to avoiding injury and being able to express strength.

Gym employee hit on me and asked for my number.. do I mention how uncomfortable that makes me to a different manager?

@markvs That’s unprofessional at best. I’d mention it to a manager.

45yo female beginner wants to lose weight and get stronger

@mika2020 It’s important for women of all ages to do resistance training. One of the greatest disservices done to women in the fitness industry is the promotion of PED using pro bodybuilders as the primary association we as a society have with “bodybuilding”. Unless you train with drugs for a...

How to begin learning Callisthenics skills? e.g. Frogstand, One Arm Push Up, Front Tucked Lever

@nate71 Top 3! If I could add a 4th for a different approach to calisthenics I’d pick RedDeltaProject.

My roommates keep calling me gym obsessed.

@kmar123 Here’s how to know if you are “addicted” to working out: Do you workout/diet/obsess even to the detriment of your physical, emotional, social or any other form of wellbeing? Does skipping a session or having a cheat meal or otherwise relaxing cause you anxiety? If not then you’re just...
