What do y’all think of speakeasy gyms?

@rip2006 Covid taught me that gyms are irrelevant, a luxury item.

I’m so tired of hearing “it’s not like they’re going to the games...”

@devonian If you sign up for a comp, then you follow the rules of the comp. Period. If people want to cheat themselves during daily workouts, so be it, but if they sign up for a competition, then there need to be standards. Everybody knows who the rep shavers are in the box, especially the...

@nick105 They are average, and will remain average, because they cheat themselves.

    Favourite grips

@wine01740 It's why my very first sentence is "Hand care is the best option". That said, if you are just trying to workout, just stop of you feel a blister. It's just silly to let your hands rip because you are working out.

@jjmcubbin Hand care is the best option. Also, don't do workouts that fuck up your hands...they are 100% not worth it. No other fitness program would ask people to rip and tear their hands, it just doesn't happen. If you feel them started to blister or tear, just stop.

Not finding the classes provide enough volume

@zekori It sounds like CrossFit doesn't align with your goals. CrossFit is GPP. It is, by design, general and not specific.

    Orangetheory v CrossFit

@ppat4u CrossFit has a greater learning curve. If you just want a workout, to sweat, to work...then Orange Theory is great. If you like learning, trying now things, and want to commit to fitness and the technical side of things, then CF is cool. Personally, I think most people could skip CF...

What do y’all think of speakeasy gyms?

@stthomaschristian If we are being honest, CrossFit is a luxury item. There is nothing essential about it. You can literally get fitness anywhere, anytime, using basic items or no items at all. Personally, I would feel sketchy about being a member somewhere that is cutting corners or working...

Will 50 pushups a day make a noticeable difference?

@lucyt25 The answer, yes. you can adjust quantity, you can adjust tempo (3 seconds down, 3 secs up) to make them harder. You can alternate hand placement etc. Pushups are a great prep exercise, the build a strong base and foundation.

Ugh. Didn’t complete the scaled version and feel like a failure

@ilovejesus56129 Don't let some arbitrary workout make you feel a certain way about yourself. Once a year, a standardized test comes down from on high and people act like it matters. It does not.

Not finding the classes provide enough volume

@goodgirlnow What does one hope to achieve by taking CF classes? For some people, the classes align with their goals. For others, they do not. CrossFit is GPP, it is generic and lacks specificity on purpose. If you have training goals, taking CF classes will almost assuredly will not...

How do you know when not to do a second crossfit workout in the same day?

@truthnotfiction If I were taking an oly class, I would probably not workout that morning an just focus on the oly class. Maybe I would do a bike ride, row, or light run to keep moving, but nothing strenuous. Oly class is actual training...CF wods are just working out...not training...

19.3, an owner’s ignorance, and a culture of cheating

@chris999 This is a great idea.

19.3, an owner’s ignorance, and a culture of cheating

@vessels I can see your point. If the whole box was doing that distance, then it still seems like an acceptable mistake. If you correct it midstream, it creates inequity within the box. For the owner, better just to let it ride.

What separates the elite from the rest

@presmom22 Honestly, I have seen so many people like you burn out, whether in CF or BJJ or other sports. They are either all in or all out, which is terrible for.long term health, so elite probably shouldn't be your goal. If it is, here is what I have observed from training with many games...

19.3, an owner’s ignorance, and a culture of cheating

@will8764 To be honest though, when you have members judging members, there are going to be questionable calls, some missed reps, some bro reps etc. I actually think the problem rest more with the judges than the athletes. When I did comps, if the judge let me get away with a questionable...

Is There a Bias in the Open against Tall Athletes?

@newbeginnings331 Many of those heights, if from the CF website, are self reported. Men are notorious for over stating their height.
