To my 5’3 girls, what’s your maintenance calories?

@anonymoussingleguy I actually am the opposite. I usually eat two big meals plus a snack when I’m at maintenance but during the cut I find I have to eat three squares, plus a snack and I need lots of fibrous veggies and fat. I don’t think I could eat 130g of protein in one sitting! LOL

Dr. Mike on male/female training differences

@ken79 💯 I have the best success with care outside of America. I’ve had to be my own advocate and bypass the system quite a bit to get what I need for my health. I dropped my US health insurance and just pay out of pocket so I can be more selective for what I need/want and take a more holistic...

Dr. Mike on male/female training differences

@bluesboy90 Not really. When you hit midlife women doctors understand the nuances with hormones because they experience it themselves. Also, I’ve never gone to a male gyno in 35 years and it’s served me well. My body, my choice!

To my 5’3 girls, what’s your maintenance calories?

@childofgod222 I’m 5’3. I weight lift 3 x week and Pilates 2 x week. I’m pretty sedentary otherwise (desk job). According to MacroFactor app, my TDEE is around 1600. So my cut is around 1300 calories. I’ve been tracking for 85 days and it adjusts each week so I was eating around 1400 but now...

Increasing calories, cutting down cardio, letting a coach guide me

@cookie3482 Well they are correct about that. Birth control is controlling your hormones so it’s worthless to test it. I was on BC for 25 yrs - before the knew the damage it does to our endocrine system. But I got on to manage my painful periods when in fact it just masks the problems. As soon...

@patsy_cline_fan I never listen to a man talk about women’s health.

Is it true that you have to decrease your calorie intake as you lose weight?

@lin I use MacroFactor for the past 60 days and it has my TDEE at 1503. Once I gave in and started working off their number, I started loosing weight at 1350 calories. I feel like it’s pretty accurate.

Increasing calories, cutting down cardio, letting a coach guide me

@cookie3482 Sure, I did what they call a Full Monty panel which you can look up and see all that they test. I also did a Female Hormone panel #2 that also tests progesterone, estradiol, and testosterone. These are both more extensive than what I’m outlining but if you go to LabCorp’s website...

Increasing calories, cutting down cardio, letting a coach guide me

@barlean I’m 49 and spent the last 16 mos rebalancing my hormones. I’ve worked with a holistic nutritionist, hormone doctor and fitness coach to tackle the problem. I traded Orangetheory HIIT for just lower impact exercise like walking, Pilates and weight lifting. You’ll be happy to know that...

Is 1600 calories a good deficit?

@perviasrectas I use macro factor app as I was grossly underestimating my TDEE despite walking, weigh lifting and Pilates. It’s helped me dial in my maintenance vs cut calories.

    75 soft

@shiney77 I do this already as part of my lifestyle (started last Jan) and I swear it’s life changing. One hack is that there are some amazing “walking meditations” I love doing on days where I don’t think I can create space to be fully quiet and dedicated to do some of the deeper meditation I...

@dawn16 Thank you, navigating health as an American is like playing 24 hr defense.

Finally happy with my body and diet and I’m clinically overweight

@judenshabbot First of all. American doctors do not get trained on how to be healthy. They are trained to address symptoms. How do they do that? Put you on pharm drugs. The absolutely LAST place I would look to for any health advice around diet and exercise is Western doctors. Are food system is...

    Ratings of Protein Powders

@thentell I did a massive elimination diet to heal my gut so now I’m pretty selective about my protein powders - and many of them have ingredients that are irritants. Nutricost has been one of the few brands that I can use daily with no issues.

When I exercise, I don’t lose weight. But when I stop exercising and just eat less, I lose weight

@susannahlily I absolutely love Pilates. I do that plus walking and weight lifting and my body is happier for it. Pilates works the small muscles and abs plus it’s great for stability and posture.

Preparing for my first DEXA scan

@prayforgaza I love doing them! orange theory used to do them at the beginning of a 8 week challenge and it’s fun to see how high protein and lifting heavy made the biggest difference in body fat %. I also had a local supplements store have one in store that I’d use occasionally
