Please reassure me my home gym isn’t dumb

@evachristine Any type of home gym is awesome and anyone who is wrinking up their nose at it should mind their business. I've had a home gym for 15 years. Right now its pretty well equipped with a rack and bench, plates and oly bar but these days I prefer going to my local gym. At some point...

Not everybody will have a bubble butt. And that’s okay.

@g3ntl3w4rri0r It's just fashion, which is fickle and never lasts. Who remember thigh gap and how it was so freaking important to have stick legs and a tiny butt? Or how about the long ass looks of the 80's with high rise thong bikinis that started from the very top of the hip bones and made...

Disappointed: weight loss didn’t equal bf% loss

@whitab I have to say the the BF% is just another number. Right now you are training for a specific sport. Do that, and focus on your performance. If you are a person who needs metrics (I am LOL) then create specific metrics for your sport, and aim to meet those. The body composition will come...

Lifting heavy v low weight/high reps for slimmer legs?

@arttonie Eating in a deficit is crucial, that said compound lifts will give you the most bang for your buck. Think squat and deadlift variations, and lunge and single leg variations. Heavy weight, which means after 7 reps in good form you can do 1 more and that's it. Every person is different...

What items do I need to get started at a gym?

@leasaithe You need a gym membership and something comfortable to wear-leggings, sweats, joggers-whatever offer you freedom to move in. The best investment I've made in sports gear is shoes. Flat sole without bounce-think Vans-for stability while lifting. Nike Metcons are the best gym shoes I...

What is the end-goal of working on your chest as a woman?

@kbhurst Before I had a mastectomy and a lift, I wanted to see a bit of boob lift. Also was powerlifitng and wanted to put up high competition numbers. Benching works your chest, but also shoulders and arms, back and abs also come into play as secondary muscle groups. Benching helps develop...

    I’m 38. I’ve been told I won’t get to what I was even when I was 34

@supernova1044 I've been told by physicians and nurses that I would never be able to bench press, do hot yoga, or hike uphill again. I really don't care about what anyone tells me I can or can't do, I'll decide. My advice is stick with it, nothing beats consistency and practice.
