    @agiosconstantinos See my other comment. Injuries are not exclusive to lifting weights at the gym. You can get injured doing anything physical. Functional fitness does not make you immune to injury. "Functional fitness" is not "controversial", more than it is just over-hyped.

    @lukulugosha The term "functional fitness" and similar are just over-hyped buzz words people use. Climbing a rope or doing box jumps is no more "functional" than doing back squats or bicep curls. When was the last time you had to climb a rope outside a gym setting? Unless you're a climber...

    How soon after the big V were you back in the gym ?

    @becksblue By the end of the first week it's not too bad, but still tender. By week two I was pretty much back to normal. I would give yourself 2 weeks minimum.
