Videos of women outdoing/keeping up with men in physical activities?

@nordicgirl There is a meta data study (that I need to find) that says that men are faster and beat women at short distances but the gap narrows and narrows as the distance grows. The women overtake the men in 100+ mile races.

Spiraling down a pandemic depression hole so I bought a treadmill

@godzillla Walking is so good for you!! Crank up some music and jam out. If you feel up to it, add some 1-2 lb dumbbells for a minute or two at a time. (Canned goods work too!) The Peloton app (free for 60 days) has walking classes, power walk, and walk-run... all the way up to running and...

New Year’s Resolution & 2024 Fitness Goals Megathread

@nathan2018 This is probably going to read like a blog post, but bear with me…. I started 2023 with a hip stress fracture and a DNS for a 50 mile race that I ran EVERY SINGLE MILE of the training plan. I ended 2022 on crutches, with zero running at all in November and December. I came back from...

Has anyone had a silly “lightbulb” moment while exercising?

@m32s I can change my shape within reason. I started working upper body and instead of being a pear I now have a balanced figure (still a pear but hips look leaner even though they aren’t any smaller). I gained five pounds and in general look stronger and clothes fit better. I also have chest...

Is this dumb? Why can’t I enjoy my free gym options? Just get the expensive membership?

@jay1969 Reading this I feel like equinox is the answer. You should feel good and enjoy your time spent on fitness - as long as it’s in budget. Will they let you do a trial period?

How do you make exercise not about weight loss?

@jen9417 I think a peloton purchase five years ago helped me a lot. I was a calorie counter and about five pounds lighter than now. After two years of peloton I realized a mental shift was happening, and I wanted muscle and didn’t care about being tiny Now I don’t count, I don’t weigh myself (I...

New Year’s Resolution & 2024 Fitness Goals Megathread

@musichub This is a great goal. Realizing I need 60 minutes a day of cardio has been key to a happy adult life I set my weekly garmin activity goal to 600 minutes, I hit it almost every week, usually 750ish (garmin counts intense activity as 2x)

how do you manage stress in ways that aren’t exercise??

@porcelainrose Self care includes getting needed things done. Do your taxes, clean a closet, get your will updated, catch up on vision and dental appointments.... adulty things like that are all self care and can give you a sense of accomplishment. A walk outside is also self care. Fresh air ...

Incline walking- how much should I be doing?

@godsgraceisenough2013 10 is aggressive. 6 is usually my max, and that is rare. Your workout sounds challenging - just maybe mix it up? The Peloton app has walking workouts - hiking, hills, power walk, walk/run, etc
