    Feeling discouraged

@crusader1 I would recommend Macrofactor if you can deal with counting calories as it will give you a very good idea of where exactly maintenance is, and whether you are eating at it.

A calorie is not a calorie??

@dawn16 Depends how you eat them. If you have nut butters then you get all those delicious calories. It seems like they’re saying almonds, for example, are something like 19% less caloric. So they’re still up there in terms of caloric density. Pistachios are estimated at only 5% less caloric.

Is it true that you have to decrease your calorie intake as you lose weight?

@loveyhwh Whether you start the cut super low or not doesn't make a difference : your rate of loss will be faster (but you will feel hungrier/more uncomfortable). It goes without saying that extreme weight loss is undesirable and counter productive.

    4'11" 48yo - What should I weigh?

@whitab If you’re using 25lb DBs you don’t need to worry about squatting 200lbs yet. You should try a couple of weeks of strength training (squat, deadlift, bench press (with DBs if you like that), pull-ups, dips) with no cardio (perhaps a couple of easy runs in the evening) and see how you feel.
