A ~3.5 year fitness journey from off the fitness wagon altogether, to runner, to lifter

@chosenmessenger I didn't mean to say that I wasn't calorie counting, I'm just not very disciplined in sticking to my macros/calories, especially on the weekends. I need to work on it. Like @polcat said though, I naturally started dropping weight when I was running for 1-2 hours+ 6 days a week.

@dawn16 I agree about worrying about food, but I really should cut some fat. I got a DEXA scan done early this year that said I was about 31% fat. I think I've made some progress since then, but mainly need to prioritize my nutrition more on the weekends. My husband also works out a lot but has...

@alabamawriter84 I'm not sure about that but thanks haha! I think that it helps that I store more fat in my legs. I've definitely been working on gaining more upper body strength. It's taken forever but I'm making progress!

@swenne120 Thank you so much! I can really relate to that, it really is paralyzing! I’ll tell you though, it felt great being able to run a ton of miles, but strength training will make you feel like a machine. It’s worth it to push through, good luck!

@josefkarl I can totally relate! My IG is @kayliexmichelle. It’s not dedicated to fitness but I do like to post my wins there. Would love to follow others similar.

@catqueen I’m really lucky that due to the nature of the gym I go to, it’s actually become my social life! I would agree 100% (and did not work out as much) before I started at my current gym.

@hazzaza Thank you for this! I always feel like because 145 is overweight as far as BMI I must be doing something wrong or fooling myself or something. I’d definitely like to lean out a bit - as shorties 5lbs can make such a difference - but it’s comforting to hear that someone else settled in...

@pfaffenhofen My go-to meal preps are chicken shawarma with Greek salad and roasted pesto chicken with green beans and cherry tomato 😊

@dawn16 Me too! I have not found a way to maintain that without running tons of mileage though unfortunately

I recently shared a photo on r/progresspics that showed my very very slow and somewhat unintentional recomp progress over the last 3.5 years, and based on some responses, I thought others may find some of my experience helpful, especially those that may struggle with the scale. I recently...
