@nathan2018 That sounds like an option. I’ll look into it. Thanks!

    Frustrated with barbell back squats

@katie4469 Hm maybe worth a shot, can see the mental benefits especially. Would break up the monotony and dread of having to test my 3RM every week haha I’ve never made a nonlinear program before, do you know any resources I can refer to for how to make one?

    Frustrated with barbell back squats

@katie4469 I keep the same no. sets and reps, and try to increase the weight every week.

@nathan2018 Sorry, what do you mean by autoregulating?

    Frustrated with barbell back squats

@nathan2018 I was following a strength program my coach used to structure for me, where I do a couple of ‘warm up’ sets at higher reps and lighter weights, then go up to a ‘peak’ at 3RM, then go back down for ‘conditioning’. An example: 40kg x 12 70kg x 8 80kg x 5 85kg x 3 80kg x 8 75kg x 8...

    Frustrated with barbell back squats

@teatimebabe28 I know lol. I use a low bar squat and I lean forward. Still doesn’t help with the depth at heavier weights.

    Frustrated with barbell back squats

@meow69 I’m not sure if I have long femurs to be honest. If I try to squat while keeping my back upright, I find it hard to go down to parallel without leaning forward, except if I use a very wide stance. Would it help if I take a video and show it?

    Frustrated with barbell back squats

@doctrine Hm I think my hip and ankle mobility are fine, I can squat ass to grass flat footed comfortably, and raising heels does help a little but not that much (and doesn’t really help in the higher weights). Could balance and stability be an issue?

    Frustrated with barbell back squats

@doctrine No pain for me thankfully. Just a perfectionist, trying to follow the art of squatting deeper lol. I usually find that I can go to parallel or slightly below parallel up to around 70kg, then I struggle to maintain that depth in higher weights and I couldn’t figure out why

@danielfromcanada Thanks for that, definitely worth reminding myself that life happens and your gains take a backseat while things get back on track 🥲 I don’t really care much about squatting ass to grass actually, but at least breaking parallel would be great, and I think my anatomy should...

    Frustrated with barbell back squats

@lena27 No coach, no belt, yes brace, yes stance width, yes accessory work. Yeah I’m starting to realise that there’s a lot of factors going into a barbell squat, so many people do them being able to bang out 100kg+ sets with ease, and it seems such a staple movement that I forget how technical...

    Frustrated with barbell back squats

Just wanting to get some advice here because I don’t understand why I’m struggling so much with this. Barbell back squats. Been doing them for 2+ years now, and within that time period I’ve had a coach help me with form for about 2 months and in that time I’ve managed to go up to about 80kg x 8...
