20.1 Strategy - A Coaches take having watched 20+ athletes complete it this morning

@dawn16 Love the username. I just listened to a podcast with Neil Degrasse Tyson and got to learn the type of person Sagan was. As a person he seems very humble and modest.

@misshapes Would holding to 8 C&J gas you or tax your forearm/shoulders too much?

@vladd That’s what most people ended up struggling with, you’re not alone!

20.1 Strategy - A Coaches take having watched 20+ athletes complete it this morning

@vladd I suggest using a training bar (15lbs) and 2 15lb plates for several reasons: 1. The bounce is less severe when/if you bail 2. You can bail the bar (if your gym allows bailing) 3. There is height for the step overs. If you have a coach that you really trust at your gym, I would ask...

@dawn16 I'm a big fan of the "Slow is steady, steady is fast" mentality for this. Good luck with it!

20.1 Strategy - A Coaches take having watched 20+ athletes complete it this morning

@leandroluthfi First off, congrats on starting CrossFit! Welcome to the family! Also, I'm only 5'8 on a good day, I feel your pain. If the prescribed scale is still too heavy, work with a coach at your gym to determine the right weight for you. This should be a light weight that you can move...

20.1 Strategy - A Coaches take having watched 20+ athletes complete it this morning

@jpett The snatches is person to person. For me it was the easiest part, if I had broken them up it would slowed me down too much. That burpee strategy is also another solid move. The reason I step down and up is consistency. Towards the end I picked it up and did that. I’d rather conserve...

20.1 Strategy - A Coaches take having watched 20+ athletes complete it this morning

@chasingvisions Good C&J's will take you further than poor snatches. If you can throw around 65lb C&J's, I would tell my athlete to go RX. I had an athlete this morning who was overly confident with their snatching and after 2 rounds went C&J. I would have rather seen them go C&J the entire...

20.1 Strategy - A Coaches take having watched 20+ athletes complete it this morning

@kchorne It depends on your skill level. For me, it was more advantageous to hold on for all 8 snatches vs breaking them up. If you feel like you are unable to hold on to a barbell that long, then definitely break it to 4 & 4 but keep rest to a minimum. In the end, will holding on for 8 make...

20.1 Strategy - A Coaches take having watched 20+ athletes complete it this morning

@homeschoolmomd Kick some ass tonight! The step method helped with recovery too actually. The snatches were light for me so I sprinted the and recovered during the burpees, while still moving quickly. I did not finish but I was into round 9. Looking forward to hearing how it goes for you!

20.1 Strategy - A Coaches take having watched 20+ athletes complete it this morning

Keep it consistent. It’s easy right? As anyone who is season will know that it’s obvious but I watch a lot of seasoned athletes deviate from their plan only to regret down the line. It does NOT matter if you win round 1 or 4 if your pace falls from :90/round to 3 mins/round, you’ll quickly...
