    What's your fitness history?

@atlantadad Thank you! Surgery went well and I am already over pretty much all the pain.

I’m approaching 50, vegetarian, and am about 60 pounds overweight. I want to start a full body transformation what should I do?

@woodgood Sure, it's totally doable. Here is a pic of my progress up to now. Currently at about 19.5% body fat, aiming for under 18%. I was a hardcore drinker and smoker for DECADES. If I can do this, literally anyone can! *And one more thing. I have used MyFitnessPal on and off for three...

    What's your fitness history?

@karengodsgirlk2 I was pretty active as a kid up through my early 20s. Then around age 23 or so, I injured myself doing karate, got depressed over that and other life events, and stopped exercising completely in order to dedicate myself full-time to professional drinking. I began packing on...

    Gains possible over 50?

@loveseternalquestion Holy crap, that's amazing. Maybe you can help me figure something out. Every time I get into a good routine with pushups, it seems like as time goes on, I can do less and less instead of more. I don't understand this. It doesn't hurt or anything, I just run out of muscle...

I’m approaching 50, vegetarian, and am about 60 pounds overweight. I want to start a full body transformation what should I do?

@woodgood I'm 52 soon and dropped about 65-70 pounds last year. I am not quite as cut yet as the guy in your photo but I'm 85% there. I got here by simply cutting calories (used Myfitnesspal) and a lot of cycling. I am a bit of an extremist and I don't actually recommend doing it as fast as I...

    More training = weight gain?

@binbina Are you taking any measurements with the tape? That would be a good way to tell what's going on.

    More training = weight gain?

@binbina Are you actually tracking your caloric intake?

keeping strength training to 20 mins

@matthias10000 Have you looked into HIIT at all? I haven't done it myself but I hear great things. For people who prefer not to spend their time in long cardio sessions, HIIT seems to be the way to go.

    Gains possible over 50?

@janeevans89 There you go. I think you will find it gives you a nice change of mindset and brings your focus back a little sharper. At least that's what it did for me. I bulked up over the winter (more than I intended... I put on 15 pounds, lol) and have been cutting again all summer. I didn't...

    Gains possible over 50?

@janeevans89 I'm honestly not sure this is even possible. The amount of protein needed to build muscle would land you well over the amount needed to maintain a caloric deficit. Have you considered going in phases, like three months cutting, three months bulking?

    advice appreciated

@dezmond You certainly are not wasting your time with the Kettle bell! You're building core and upper body strength and I cannot think of an example where that should be a bad thing. It will help make your workouts more effective.

Should I see significant improvements after 5 months of training?

@swindon Are you tracking calories? Not just sort of paying attention, but actually tracking them? Fifteen pounds since August is pretty damn good and you should be patient with yourself. I think most likely you just need to keep on doing what you're doing.

Getting back to the gym after 20 years..

@racheldovah Congrats on losing 10 lbs! If you're already doing IF then you're tackling the first thing I would have suggested, which would be to take a look at what you're eating. More and more, I'm realizing just how much fitness really starts in the kitchen. If you're into tracking your...
