    CrossFit Quarterfinals Weekend Thread

@littlefox Yeah, I totally get the bigger field making sense from the participant angle, and it seems like it could be pretty cool for those who make it that far. Good luck to anyone that qualified and I bet it will be a good experience for most.

    CrossFit Quarterfinals Weekend Thread

@justasimplea I don't think the QF are a money grab, but from the standpoint of selecting the best of the best, it seems like it would be more sensible to put the cut-off at 1000 athletes for the regions with 30 semifinalists and 2000 athletes for the regions with 60 semifinalists. Maybe even...

    CrossFit Quarterfinals Weekend Thread

@sic Looking at the V-up standard on the scorecard, I don't think it's really that crazy. Soft knees are allowed as long as you aren't deliberately bending your knees. The start of the movement is easy to judge, and the top of the movement is hands touching toes above head level. That doesn't...

    2023 NoBull CrossFit Games IE5 - Ski-Bag Discussion Thread

@warren76 Penalty would seem harsh there, IMO. There were plenty of athletes that only moved past the dotted line because the judges were pointing toward the square past the dotted line. With that many athletes needing to be corrected, it obviously wasn't *that* clear of a standard. To make...

Meet Devin Ford, 7 Time Regional Competitor

@cantgetright Yeah, direct-from-Open qualification is generally a joke. They should re-think the process next year and use the Sanctionals as a regionals process with qualifiers coming from the Open, and qualification to the Games coming from the Sanctionals. If they spread out the Sanctionals...

2023 NoBull CrossFit Games IE8 - Intervals Discussion

@n0nbeliever I don’t think there was a 2-foot landing standard for the top of the box. Everyone looked like they were doing a 2-foot take-off from the floor as far as I noticed. And they weren’t allowed to do rebounding jumps.

    CrossFit Quarterfinals Weekend Thread

@jonjones229 The QF3 C+J weight is aggressive. 21.4 is not the exact same as a max C+J, but most are probably jerk limited in both. There were only roughly 1900 men that got to 275# on 21.4 out of 130K men that submitted at least one score. So it's in roughly the top 1.5% of competitors...

Breaking - Roman is injured (confirmed)

@dj2011 I agree. I see it the same as someone tripping over their bar in one of the speed squat/snatch ladder events -- it sucks if you trip over the barbell, but you're responsible for your own equipment and you have to get the bar settled enough before you go over it, or you risk tripping...

1000 lb club sub 4:30 mile same day - possible?

@patim22 I can get on board with that. From a running standpoint, a sub-4:30 is very good, something you should obviously be proud of. Just not elite in and of itself.

1000 lb club sub 4:30 mile same day - possible?

@patim22 How much are we watering down the term elite these days? 4:30 for a male is not even close to elite. Elite marathoners can throw in a sub-4:30 mile in the middle of a 2:10 marathon as a tactic to drop other runners. I went to school in a small rural area where we had at most 90 kids...

Breaking - Roman is injured (confirmed)

@abbysweet It seems to me more like a lot of people dealing with chronic stuff coming into the competition versus the events themselves causing a problem. If anything, I was thinking the events had pretty reasonable loads compared to the abilities of the athletes, and we haven't had any crazy...

What’s a go to longer zone 2 conditioning workout

@christopher11 That completely depends on how strong of a runner you are. If you can run a 20-minute 5K it’s a much different story than if you can only run a 35-minute 5K.

Breaking - Roman is injured (confirmed)

@bengalinath19 I always liked having minimum work requirements, too. It's dumb that you are getting so heavily downvoted just for having an opinion. Being able to meet a minimum work requirement in every event shows that the athlete is well-rounded and can be at least mediocre at everything...

    2023 NoBull CrossFit Games IE10 - Muscle-Up Logs

@chiwawa Not to mention that muscle-ups are better for shorter (generally lighter) athletes anyway, so it was only the sandbag portion of the workout that favored taller athletes.
