Recent Study: Greater increases in muscle growth when training 5 vs 1 d/wk when volume is equated

@onlinepsychics With these studies and with a lot of the content you'll find in this subreddit, try to think of it as sprinters trying to beat their previous mile by 0.5-1 seconds. Genetic potential is a real thing, but it's how close can you get to it. Some training methods could eventually...

Recent Study: Greater increases in muscle growth when training 5 vs 1 d/wk when volume is equated

@dawn16 Vs 1 day a week, yes. There could also be a benefit in muscle protein synthesis vs your current frequency. If you decide to try it, just make sure you are progressing. This recent study showed no difference between 3vs6 d/wk.

Recent Study: Greater increases in muscle growth when training 5 vs 1 d/wk when volume is equated

@hisgras It should be noted that this is with people that are trained and the volume was distributed. So instead of accumulating a lot of muscle damage and fatigue in one session that would require rest days in between, you are simply dividing your volume across multiple days so that it is low...

Recent Study: Greater increases in muscle growth when training 5 vs 1 d/wk when volume is equated

Study Link I have formatted this study to be easier to digest by including only the information that I found to be relevant. I then bolded the important bits of that and included some summaries scattered throughout. It goes: Short summary of the results for those who don't want to read a lot>A...

Question thread for our AMA with Dr. Brandon M Roberts and Dr. Peter J Fitschen starting Wednesday April 15th!

@paparazi257 Do you have any training strategies for getting more benefits from sarcoplasmic hypertrophy? Maybe phases of different training styles similar to periodization where you instead train specifically for it? Does it require anything special to maximize it?

Why you should pay attention to your Menstrual Cycle as a woman - A breakdown of "The Women's Book Vol 1" by Lyle Mcdonald /w Eric Helms

@dawn16 He is claiming that not only is there lacking evidence for birth control causing fat gain but that one study found the opposite. He never claimed it was significant. The amount of weight loss doesn't matter. He is not claiming it causes weight loss. He is not trying to support an idea...

Why you should pay attention to your Menstrual Cycle as a woman - A breakdown of "The Women's Book Vol 1" by Lyle Mcdonald /w Eric Helms

@luanvan24 It does a little bit in vol 1. In vol 1 He goes into detail on the types of birth control, how they affect hormones, which ones do what for you, but he intends to go into greater detail on the effects it has on the menstrual cycle in vol 2. One fun fact about birth control in...

@erxomai Thanks! I meant an extra 1000-3000 burned by the end of the phase. Corrected.

Balancing alcohol with physique goals. What the research says

@dawn16 I'm on my phone atm but I believe that is in there under the "Hormones" section. In men, the one that lowered it was with heavy drinking but light drinking increased it. If the women one isn't in there I'll see if I can find it.

Why you should pay attention to your Menstrual Cycle as a woman - A breakdown of "The Women's Book Vol 1" by Lyle Mcdonald /w Eric Helms

@dawn16 He does not. I did. It is a 400 page book. He goes deeply into it. This is a summary. It is not supposed to be me posting his entire book. I am knowingly butchering things. This thread is a summary of just the menstrual cycle chapters and it's not even all of it. He goes into all of...

Balancing alcohol with physique goals. What the research says

@suma http://foodfacts.foodcomp.info/ToolBox_Atwater.asp @ /@paparazi257 (or another dietician or similar) could you confirm if the Atwater system takes protein into account on nutrition labels? Or am I misunderstanding this?
