Let's have a conversation about squatting, and ignorance

@tomodachi Have you tried heels-elevated? I need heels up about 1 to 1.5 inch to hit correct depth w/o butt-wink.

45yo female beginner wants to lose weight and get stronger

@d%C3%A4ni%C3%ABl1 Nutritionists don't always have a significant amount of training, if any. You can get an online certificate for "nutritionist" with little effort. Registered dietitians on the other hand need to be certified, and are far more knowledgeable about diet & nutrition. Always opt...

45yo female beginner wants to lose weight and get stronger

@mika2020 If you're comfortable counting calories, this will be the most effective strategy for losing fat. You don't need to track ratios or percentages at all. Like, at all. It's enough to track protein only (or just eat high-protein overall), and track only total calories. Total calories...

Novice strength levels - 0-1 rep a week even in calorie surplus, high protein, good sleep

@cybernetic How many set of how many reps @ 22kg per hand, per week? What does your "volume" actually look like?

Let's have a conversation about squatting, and ignorance

@mybrainsick Yeah, "concern-trolling" typically does more harm than good. It wrongly plants a seed of doubt which fucks with confidence. Especially when there's no legitimate risk! It causes paranoia.

Does anybody else have a certain weight that they get stuck on and it's so hard to break below? How do I get past it?

@yommie I have the best results when I track every calorie accurately. I can cut right at the fine line of "hard, but not too harsh". Being "obsessive" about calorie tracking and calorie intake permits me to have as much energy as possible, while still losing as much fat as possible. I enjoy...

My fitness goal: be able carry my 130 lbs partner from the couch to the bed without waking her up. How to achieve?

@theanthem How much "drastic" will her change in appearance be, once she can accomplish this feat? What you said is silly, and you are a silly person for saying such silly things.

Let's have a conversation about squatting, and ignorance

@dawn16 You benefit more from the "hamstring stretch response" the deeper you go... You will thus get a little more rebound at the bottom to help you out the hole.

    Does body recomposition actually work?

@_marc97 Barely and really only under certain ideal circumstances: Brand spanking new lifters Lifters returning after time off People with very high body fat The short answer is: DON'T limit fat loss to the rate at which muscle can be built! If you can only build roughly a pound per month...

I need over 4100 calories a day according to this calculator... Anymore ideas on easy sources of calories?

@michaelkep I want a general sense of the calorie density of your diet. And yeah, a vague idea of the volume. Eggs are great. What other meaningful sources of fat are you getting? Where's the actual carbs?

@blizzardlover428 In all my travels, I've learned that sanity often involves copious amounts of Almond butter.

    DEXA Results: 29F, 5'5", 126.1 lbs, 18.4% BF

@tinabugs77 Although DEXA is considered 'the Gold-standard' for body composition, it can still fluctuate somewhat. I personally think the 18.4% reading is a high estimate; visually, I think I would call it 16%. You ought to compare your figure against the U.S. Navy Bodyfat Calculator; I'm...
