Lifting heavy v low weight/high reps for slimmer legs?

@arttonie If you carry extra fat in your legs, it’s gonna be a calorie deficit to get them smaller. It’s not about your workouts. I have genetically big legs. When I do a calorie deficit, my legs get slim pretty quickly, after about 6-8 weeks I’ll see them get smaller. When I eat in a calorie...

    Confused on Macros

@robertwarhero2 Track your food the night before in a food tracking app like my fitness pal. Don’t go into your day not knowing what you’re going to eat or trying to “wing it” You don’t need a program. Keep calories and protein in check. I’d shoot for 130 g of protein and at least 50g fat. Let...

Plateau and Gaining on Reverse Diet

@didyousaysomething Yeah I’d definitely increase your daily steps! If you can get them up gradually it will really help to increase your TDEE and you’ll be able to eat more calories. Start by going to 8k. Then once you’re comfortable there, push it to 10k. If you want to ramp it up more, go up...

Is it true that you have to decrease your calorie intake as you lose weight?

@louis2017 But hunger mood and stress are the reasons people fail at dieting and keeping weight off long term. It has to be sustainable to be successful. The harder the diet, the harder the rebound.

Is it true that you have to decrease your calorie intake as you lose weight?

@louis2017 If she starts super low and hits a plateau she’ll have no where to go. So it’s best to start on as high of calories as possible. Also cutting on higher cals is more beneficial for retention of muscle mass.

Did anyone else struggle with their body image MORE as they got stronger/lost weight? How did you learn to appreciate your “new” self?

@prayhouse Yes when I was at my lowest weight my body image was at its worst. It was mostly because even though I was super skinny, I was under muscled. Most of us are under-muscled and we need to build a good foundation of muscle. Which is hard work and takes years of consistency. Secondly, I...

Is it true that you have to decrease your calorie intake as you lose weight?

@debate507 Yes it’s true. This is why you never start a cut at super low calories. This is also why holding onto as much muscle mass as possible is important when cutting.

    Anyone here taking "diet breaks"?

@conservativechristian You won’t gain it back if you’re eating at maintenance and it’s just one week. Even if you did go over your maintenance slightly you can’t gain that much fat in one week unless you’re bingeing non stop or overindulging every day like crazy. If you do gain from a...

Fitness advice for 5'2" female feeling stagnant

@jessica50332 I get it. It’s what all the advanced lifters do. I’d say if you want to try it out, you really need to know it’s what you want to do and commit to it fully. Otherwise you’ll just be spinning your wheels. Are you afraid of gaining fat on the bulking part? Bulking does seem like it’s...

@indent Build muscle now! It’s easier to build when you have more fat stores!

Weight lifting makes me irritable (but running doesn’t)

@hopeeternal Yeah. It’s hard work. And it takes a long time to get good at it and even longer to see serious physical results. That’s why people hire coaches. Bc it’s definitely a mental challenge. Also-Are you eating enough food? Do you feel good after your workout is over?

    Is this ok??

@atheistone Will you lose weight on 1200 calories a day? Yes. Will it be difficult to stick to your diet consistently? Yes. Will you gain all the weight back after your diet is over on that low of calories? Also yes. At your weight, I would recommend that you start your calorie deficit at 1950...

Switching to sculpt/low weight workouts to lean out?

@virtualhope It sounds to me like you should do a cut. I don’t think you should change your training. You say your current calories are 1523. Those sound like cutting calories? Surely that’s not your maintenance calories… ? At your weight and activity level, I’d say your maintenance calories...
