    Box Owner Question

@skizzik183 My box paid the equivalent of $15/class and expected the certification cost to be borne by the coach. Part time coaches paid 1/2 the going rate for an unlimited membership and all staff are required to be in 3 class workouts per week. “Full time” coaches have PT clients and I don’t...

Meet Devin Ford, 7 Time Regional Competitor

@davidcid Well, when you're at least half a foot over the tape... I can't even... And he's claiming 9% body fat at 205# on a 5'8 frame - that's not natty.

I’m 17 y/o and have been in CrossFit for about 5 months and i want to compete

@maizeemay Find a coach who works well with you and has the skills and experience to work at the level you want to. As a baseline, comptrain has free online programming. Skills, strength, engine. You can’t win with shitty movement, you can’t win with a 300# squat, and you can’t win with an...

What’s a go to longer zone 2 conditioning workout

@chibisensei21 Anything that keeps your HR in zone 2 consistently. Not intervals. Monostructural. Why are you overthinking this. swim bike row run walk ski jumping jacks whatever

    Linda - women’s opinions?

@mixpanema I like bodyweight based workouts as a rest - even though I won’t excel with them, as I’m still not that strong pound for pound. We did it at my gym and the only people who Rx’d it spent a lot of time in the gym in high school, working on their bench. I don’t think most crossfitter...

    23.1 women’s barbells misloaded

@budalazena 38kg and 43kg are reasonably far apart and these athletes ostensibly would be training into the Open with these weights and should recognize it. But on the other hand - there’s a lot of stress doing a live announcement. What the fuck, CrossFit.

What’s a go to longer zone 2 conditioning workout

@christopher11 Run slower But yes, it’s really slow. I never used to like it but now sunny day just makes me want to go shuffle for an hour. Easier than rowing, mentally.

Is there too much emphasis on strength in general and Weightlifting in particular in the Crossfit Opens workouts?

@orochii7 The open has historically been a qualifier for the Games; in 2020 it was a direct qualifier. Heavy weights are a prerequisite for CrossFit competition. There’s people who can clean 100# more than me and I can beat them because they’re too heavy for gymnastics or their cardio sucks...

On my way to the Manly V Shape: Need Critiquing (M/23/190lbs/5'10")

@luonnoliehre Good luck. The other thing I’d add is that you’re going to see a lot of stalls. I’d go 2 weeks without movement then drop a pound and a half (and stay there) overnight.

On my way to the Manly V Shape: Need Critiquing (M/23/190lbs/5'10")

@luonnoliehre My go-to for nutrition is https://rippedbody.com/complete-diet-nutrition-set-up-guide/ You’re at least 25%. Maybe more. Target 1-1.5#/wk weight loss, and taper that as you lose weight - iirc

Who are your favorite people - genuinely - in CrossFit?

@slickk77 Pat Sherwood is great, and more of what society needs. Fitness, no pressure, just positive vibes. CrossFit is great; the sport is entertaining (to me) - but it’s also extremely, very intimidating. As much as I enjoy the Josh Mat Sevan podcast, there’s a lot about them that I find...

Echo vs. Assault Bike // Which is Harder?

@chloejm I think the way to test this is use a motor with known output to spin the pedal crank and see what it reads on each bike. The problem is that the monitors make assumptions, and they’re not intended to be compared. If you bend the blade on the assault bike it’ll count calories like...
