Games Event 4 Sprint Couplet: Were some lanes faster than others? /w Stats

@theparadox116 Sprint events, in general, aren't really a good test of fitness. It introduces a level of technique and precision that's really beyond the scope of CrossFit IMHO. At least - they should not be used for making huge cuts like they were. In the Sprint Couplet, as this post notes...

Survey: What CrossFit Movement is the Hardest to Master?

@iphonetrabaohanh Difficult to learn, difficult to master, or difficult to build the strength required to perform the movement? It's not especially difficult to learn to snatch, but to be good at snatching is a whole other story - far more time is required than to build the strength to do a...

Just bought a Concept 2 Model D rower with PM5. Recommended iOS apps?

@dawn16 Jabra Elite Sport. Also tried the Bose - half the price, but they let noise in. Good for running, but I have to have the volume too high for erging).

Just bought a Concept 2 Model D rower with PM5. Recommended iOS apps?

@patona Not an app, but I’m enjoying earbuds with a HR monitor. They’re Bluetooth and connect to the erg. I push way too hard on my steady state. Ergdata and the log website are all I really want right now.

    Master Your Bar-Facing Burpees

@chloejm Option 4 is my go-to. Run through all 3 and then stare at the bar and hope it disappears, about halfway through the WOD. BFB are my nemesis.

A Message to CrossFit Athletes and Fans - Justin Bergh, General Manager of Sport

@grace4nan I wonder how much of coke partnership was time driven. There’s good relationships to be made, but the companies aren’t big enough to redirect cash on the timeframe they wanted. I hope, at least.

A Message to CrossFit Athletes and Fans - Justin Bergh, General Manager of Sport

@grace4nan Reading between the lines a bit everyone (athletes, fans, organizers)has told us there’s major problems with how we operate competitive CrossFit. We hired someone to help with that our communication sucks; we’re going to define the following official channels [I'm not sure this is a...

Two Months of Crossfit Update w/ Q’s

@ppaws45 Work on T-spine mobility and hip mobility. Catalyst Athletics and Squat University are good resources for that. Overhead strength takes time to develop. Strict press and push press with help develop overhead strength but neither Jerk and Snatch require a lot of overhead strength - they...

Recovery Tactics For Busy People Who Train Hard

@stormie_renee Working that many hours is actively detrimental to productivity; sleep deprivation makes humans very unhealthy in every metric, and that level of stress will literally kill people. I hope it's worth it.

Games Event 4 Sprint Couplet: Were some lanes faster than others? /w Stats

@james2016 I remember reading about a pool design for one of last few Olympics - maybe Beijing - where they talked about how they designed the pool so that the force generated by the swimmers was dissipated to the greatest extent, using some new techniques. It's a tough problem to solve. At...

Recovery Tactics For Busy People Who Train Hard

@cherryjohnson Sleep. Fucking sleep more, people. I think you’ve got it covered. Meditation is overlooked too. Sleep and meditation (that can just be “spend 10 min think about your day, write down 3 good things that happened or that you’re proud of etc.”) are free and low effort compared to...

For those of you who don’t belong to a traditional box..

@dawn16 CrossFit linchpin and street parking are the top two programs you should check out to get started. Well rounded, well designed, and frequently brutal. Linchpin’s owner does some/the Masters programming for the Games, and StreetParking’s owner tests it (or - that is how it seems to have...
