Feeling like I don't look like I workout

@hendricks62 Well, you workout. You are what that looks like. If you mean you don't look like one of the fitness models or Instagram fitness influencers, that's probably because they're doing things you're not doing and probably don't want to do. They're possibly unhealthy things.

    How my gym views women

@debyfabienne In my experience, the really serious hardcore bodybuilding gyms have the most women lifting. They're a minority of the membership, but there's more than you'll see lifting at most gyms. Just now I go to a big chain that actually prioritises strength and there's a lot of women...

My roommates keep calling me gym obsessed.

@kmar123 I work out 4-6 days a week at the gym. It's my happy place. What else are you supposed to do? Watch telly?

Does anyone else think that the leg press is a superior quad builder compared to conventional barbell squats?

@jinxy Leg press lets you move your feet around to hit different parts of the leg. Squats are great for strength and functionality, but from what I've observed, bodybuilders seem to prefer machines because they have a specific aesthetic goal.

How to do HIIT in 3 Steps (x-post from r/HIIT)

@howardrf I do resistance things, but with very light weights. For strength training, I will OHP with 12kg dumbbells. For my HIIT circuit, I will use the 10kg barbell, or maybe two 5kg dumbbells. It's much lighter so that I can do 12 reps really fast. The slam balls will be 3-5kgs. The...

How to do HIIT in 3 Steps (x-post from r/HIIT)

@howardrf I guess it works? I just want cardiovascular health in the shortest possible time. I think I can shorten it by doing 6 resistance exercises instead of step-ups for a minute followed by 5 exercises. That would make it 2 minutes. I like the variety of it and I like that I'm only...

How to do HIIT in 3 Steps (x-post from r/HIIT)

@howardrf Maybe I'm doing it wrong... I pick 5 resistance exercises, varying by what equipment is available. (battle ropes, kettlebells, etc). One of these is always step-ups onto a raised platform. I start with one minute of step-ups. Then I do 10-16 reps of the other four exercises. I order...

Quitting sugar --- healthy or too restrictive?

@jesse1354 I have to go cold turkey. No sugar is much easier than low sugar. FWIW, I don't have any issues with incidental sugar like in ketchup or in fruits. Just sweets will trigger me.
