    @sabina42 The only energy (calories) you need extra are to perform the actual exercises themselves, you need extra energy (unless you sit still all day) to move your arms during bicep curls but you do NOT need extra energy to build muscles.

    @grapheme Are you under the common misconception that calories contribute to muscle building? Calories has nothing to do with building muscles, you just need a little more calories than enough to survive. Adding more calories to your diet will NOT give increased muscle mass.
