    Fitness is a bit lonely

@rang I don't think I could motivate myself if I was working out at home. I will rarely work on harder yoga asanas at home, but usually just to build up strength deficits outside of class in a way that wouldn't work in a class. I also appreciate that I can much more easily weather a night out...

How do I get a physique like this?

@cici1234 Have that body. The way you look depends on the frame you're working with.

Just for fun: what’s everyone’s favorite fitness/health “fact” that’s been debunked?

@car56sad Amen! Like just add some exercise and you can eat good deal more and still be in a deficit. Sometimes I see those "what I eat in a day" posts on the 1200isplenty sub and it makes me want to cry! Like two slices of ham for dinner and eggs in your oatmeal? I'd rather die.

@notaperfectchristian My move was to just lay there and apologize to my liver

Bad follow up dexa scan, where to go from here

@hvkadk12 DEXA scans are not approved for body fat percentage measurement. They are not approved for anything apart from measuring bone mineral density. You're wasting your money if you are getting a DEXA scan for body composition and you're exposing yourself to more radiation than is necessary...

When is walking considered a workout?

@anoncord If your pace is brisk enough that you have a consistent elevation in HR, it could easily be cardio.

Don’t feel guilty for eating over the holidays!

@dawn16 I'm so mad. My family never pays any mind to desert so I'm sitting here trying to believe this box apple pie tastes good.

Bad follow up dexa scan, where to go from here

@ecumeni some states don't even require certification to run a scan and some techs didn't even know they were non compliant with the state requirements This generally means nobody is checking for DEXA certification.

Just for fun: what’s everyone’s favorite fitness/health “fact” that’s been debunked?

@alan Also like...how do people not know about basic human anatomy. Your uterus should not be herniating through your lower abdominal fascia, if that's your goddamn uterus you need to be speeding to the nearest ER. It's also, for the majority of history, considered to be very attractive to have...

Bad follow up dexa scan, where to go from here

@ecumeni I'm sure they are fully aware of the off label use. It's most likely hidden in any forms you sign. The customer must also do research before making a choice to spend money on this kind of stuff.

Bad follow up dexa scan, where to go from here

@ecumeni It's not the person, it's the imaging modality

Bad follow up dexa scan, where to go from here

@ecumeni So running the machine is probably not much more complicated than orienting the clients body according to markings on a board or on the machine itself and pressing some buttons. Yeah calibration is ideal but if the machine isn't being used for the intended purpose then I'm not sure what...

Bad follow up dexa scan, where to go from here

@ecumeni It's a computer program. You don't need any credentials to perform a DEXA, you might need a training certificate at most. Kind of like you don't need credentials to take an x-ray or even perform a CT. The output is based on complex formulas run by software. Anyone can just read the...

Just for fun: what’s everyone’s favorite fitness/health “fact” that’s been debunked?

@notaperfectchristian Well I mean there was a time when people drank their own urine. So who fucking knows. I remember my best friend at the time telling me she drank her first morning piss in the shower and I almost had a stroke. She got mad when I told her it wasn't sterile.

Just for fun: what’s everyone’s favorite fitness/health “fact” that’s been debunked?

@notaperfectchristian Exactly. It's what your pee and poo is for. Your liver and kidneys are hard at work and you gotta insult them by eating lemon water with pepper?
