Is there a 'formula' to help determine the appropriate rep range to use from the 5-30 range for a specific exercise?

@doks Agree, however I never noticed fatigue be a limiting factor in high rep squats or deads, always thought my muscles failed first (no I don't go to real failure in these exercises) but I will try to observe it more closely next time I do my 15 reps of RDL or whatever.

@grace_chaser Perfect is an exaggeration, I should have said "good" form.

@justincann I don't go to real failure either. Just failure in perfect form and then stop it there. High rep Squats do seem to have a kind of anabolic effect, the 20 rep Squat program is said to be a great way to gain muscle fast.

Stuck in the 230s for bench press

@worship4him Oh, it sounded like you are doing powerlifting style in bench because you said for every flat bench session you're doing 4x4. Yeah some do it that way and once they have reached a certain weight increase the reps for hypertrophy.

@jdez Where did you get the idea that high rep squats and deads are bad for hypertrophy? Check out bastionhead on youtube, he does high rep breathing squats and he is pretty close to his natural limit. Personally I do higher rep range too because I feel it's safer for the back and I hurt...

Stuck in the 230s for bench press

@dawn16 This is powerlifting, he says he does 4x4, which is only done for a short period, if at all, in BB. Meanwhile the posts I made got deleted by the mods.

Renaissance Periodization - How To ACTUALLY Build Muscle As Fast As Possible

@derrickb You can easily go a month or more without lifting and won't lose much strenght. That's my experience.
