    How to improve my cardio?

@kara1991 Directly to your question: Zone 2 cardio should solve most of your issues. As a beginner crossfit you might see big improvements from your cardio in the next months. But eventually that will stop. I would recommend zone 2 and hardly that is any way around it. I would recommend...

How I build a base phase for QF crossfit athlete

@alex2017 Just from that information I would assume that you’re on the other end of the spectrum as an athlete. Very respiratory efficient but limited horse power.

How I build a base phase for QF crossfit athlete

@glory2jesus Again disagree. Around 25 new members entered my gym this year. No one expressed or even tried to compete. From the whole gym only less than 5% even takes the open seriously.

How I build a base phase for QF crossfit athlete

@glory2jesus Tottaly disagree. Just because you’re an amateur does not mean you should not compete. England has 13 leagues of soccer and I imagine everyone likes to compete even in the lowest tier.

How I build a base phase for QF crossfit athlete

@glory2jesus If you see joy in not comparing with others and not competing why cant other see joy in comparing with others and in competing? I definitely see that attitude in every sport. I've competed in triathlon, weightlifting, soccer, and in gymnastics. I have amazing memories from...

How I build a base phase for QF crossfit athlete

@caleb_m The tests are not the same but year-to-year dramatic changes also dont occur often for an experienced athlete. The big difference between QF and semis is not volume. Skill level and loads are substantially higher than volume increase. Dont disagree. 90% of the work is close enough but...

How I build a base phase for QF crossfit athlete

@caleb_m I personally dont see the difference in someone who is stuck in the 80 to 85 percentile for years or a semifinal bubble athlete trying to reach the games. Both have goals and some of them might see fit a personalized program.

How I build a base phase for QF crossfit athlete

@caleb_m Justin Medeiros would need just the regular box programming to make top 100 worldwide in QF final. Some people would never reach that level. It’s when the programmng is insufficient to make you reach your potential that you need individual programming (given equal effort).

@caleb_m And to be completely transparent: I do program but I dont charge for it.

Base level support of cardio for athletes

@st333333 If in such activities as AB the local muscular fatigue is a big impediment to a better performance then this means that your cardiovascular system is most likely limited by the oxygen delivery and/or utilization into/to the muscle. Although a full body activity with higher turnover...

How I build a base phase for QF crossfit athlete

@caleb_m I dont disagree with you. But again my observatio is that a lot of people still can not pass into qf. Some people go to the games in their very first years as a competitor others will struggle to pass into qf. For a lot of people going to QF is their games and there is no shame about...

Base level support of cardio for athletes

@st333333 to your question: depends but most likely no. 10 min of 10 burpees and 10 wall balls (or any movement is huge eccentric portion and/or mostly limited by muscular fatigue) in my perspective is an inferior way to test "pure" cardiovascular fitness. when oxygen delivery and utilization...

How I build a base phase for QF crossfit athlete

@caleb_m That may be true but it is inconsistent with what I have been observing in my journey of 8 years in crossfit. I know a lot of consistent people who fall short on open season despite putting the work year long.

@wretchedredemptionmusic Totally agree with the huge lifts thing. Always good to have great numbers but not as important when considering most open events are muscle endurance/cardiac output mainly workouts.

Base level support of cardio for athletes

@heatherpedz Point 1 : Since you referred the 1k row, I went back to my files and took the data from the 2020 games https://games.crossfit.com/leaderboard/games/2020?division=1&sort=4 . I calculated the correlation between watts and final standing (0,239) and the correlation between watts/kg...

Base level support of cardio for athletes

@heatherpedz "This is one of several quasi-scientific posts you have made which in reality brings nothing of value, and im tired of it." - You didnt find anything incorrect with my statements, you just find out to have a different perspective on how valuable/applicable those statements are. I'm...

Base level support of cardio for athletes

@heatherpedz "In cycling your weight will work against you because of gravity, on the bike erg it will not." - Weight can and will work against you in several movements of crossfit. In a substantial part of crossfit movements you have to support all of your weight against gravity and thus...

How I build a base phase for QF crossfit athlete

In this case the Bridge Season and Specific Season would be the most critical in my opinion. I see a lot of potential not being matched by events performance.
