Morning workouts - prep, routine and everything else

@margarets70 I have a similar routine and aim for 8:30pm, usually 9:00pm. (My partner keeps an early schedule and I don't have many local friends which helps in some ways.)

@tammiemjohnson Mine is basically this too! Just shifted 30min earlier.

Is sleep (or lack there of) getting in the way of my progress?

@lilliandandy Are you increasing volume/challenge? That could be another issue. It can be hard with dumbbells, but there are ways around it!

Morning workouts - prep, routine and everything else

@charlieparker Thank you! It's been very challenging in some ways, and gratifying and easier than others. I'm a huge night owl (worked overnights for a couple years even and LOVED it) so I often have to work on letting my routine slip later 😅

What percent of your income goes towards fitness?

    @cdf Woo! That's awesome!

Morning workouts - prep, routine and everything else

@charlieparker Wake up 4:45am, change into workout clothes beside bed, brush teeth, fix hair, bit of water, go to gym. Gym takes 1.25hr about. Or I'll stay home and get out of bed for 5:00am. Either way, after my workout is when I'll go home and basically pretend I just woke up. I'll do a bit of...

Is sleep (or lack there of) getting in the way of my progress?

@ulkon And progressive overload! If the dumbbells are too light, they won't be all that beneficial for physical changes unless she's increasing reps or weight. Particularly for the lower body which can usually lift heavier.

"What Animal Do You Lift?" is back online!

@readerjoseph This is amazing and I will be tracking my lifts by animals now 😂

What percent of your income goes towards fitness?

@seekingbutnotfinding Nice! Totals wise, that's around what I spend too. Right now clothes and equipment go into savings, but the money will be there in the hopes I need to make room for bigger biceps! Haha

What percent of your income goes towards fitness?

@juanpabloic Nice! I hope to one day live in a space that can fit a home gym! I've heard prosthetics can be very expensive - do you need a separate one for your workouts? I've seen some cool different types, but I guess the more specialized the more expensive.

Was it dangerous to bail out of my squat with my hair like this? (See image)

@johnmarsten One thing that's helpful for me (as I get soo down in the dumps when someone draws attention to me in public, like rage shitting on myself) is to try and assume positive intent. That DOESN'T mean they're correct, but maybe they were looking to keep someone in your shared community...

What percent of your income goes towards fitness?

@jordana That's awesome! My insurance only covers 3 sessions. I have a capsule as well, but I'm hoping to grow out of them 💪🏻

How do you pump yourself up to go hard?

@allthingsarebecomenew Somewhat opposite, but I find I can't go as hard if I've eaten. I need to roll out pretty quickly after water otherwise I get sluggish. (4:30 am wake and 5:00am gym). But, to manage this I try to have a large early evening supper. Not evidance based, but you might see how...

What percent of your income goes towards fitness?

@herewearenow How does it compare to traditional lifting? It looks really cool, but it also seems like a basically a cable system?

How do you pump yourself up to go hard?

@mmbee0112 Normally I'd 100% agree with this. Since she's been going for a year consistently and still struggles would you have different advice?

What percent of your income goes towards fitness?

Saw some old threads and thought this might be interesting! Past threads were straight numbers, but I thought this might be helpful to contextualize things. It can be easy to get envious to what people spend, but you don't know other people's situations for better or worse. Thought it might be...

Do certain Pilates Moves attribute to more of a boxy figure? Confused!!

@micah888 Pilates is more likely to tone (i.e. not add bulk) because it's not progressive for the most part after an initial plateau. If you were doing weight flexion/resistance and exercises then you could end up adding more mass to the midsection (think how CrossFit athletes are often more...
