What’s a little trick that made a huge difference in your form?

@bkrolex Here's one I saw in a Dave Tate video, for deadlifts. Can't find the video, so I'll describe it. He had the guy stand there, and marked chalk on his shorts where his fingertips hit. Then he told him (still just standing there) to move his fingers lower. No, lower. Lower than that...

    Frustrated with barbell back squats

@ortho Couple things I'm seeing here: You've had to take breaks (vacation, illness). Makes sense that that would interrupt progress. You feel like you're weaker in a cut. This really shouldn't be the case, unless your nutrition is seriously lacking or you're doing a huge deficit. Either you...

Confused about the whole calorie deficit thing. (Please read before commenting)👏

@barwi Take a guess. If think 3,000-4,000 is too much, try 2,700. (Or whatever number makes sense to you.) Eat that for two weeks. If your weight stays the same, you were correct. If you lose a pound or two, you're probably at a good number for weight loss. If you gain weight the number was too...

Can you do a pull up if you can pull your bw in a lat pulldown?

@josh88 A bodyweight lat pulldown tells you that your lat strength is roughly in the right ballpark but it tells you nothing about your core strength (which is hugely important for a pullup) or your skill with the pullup movement. Machines are also not consistent in their calibration. It might...

Do certain Pilates Moves attribute to more of a boxy figure? Confused!!

@kenhui Pilates isn't going to add that inch either, tbh. Remember, we were talking about half an inch because that's the difference between the smallest and the largest measurement in the entire study. That's an extreme example, not an expected result.

Confused about the whole calorie deficit thing. (Please read before commenting)👏

@diannalynn67 Nah, you don't need to be 400 pounds or lie to have a 3,000+ calorie TDEE. For example, a 250 lb man who is moderately active (3-5 workouts/week, pretty typical for people working on losing weight) would have an estimated 3,343 calorie TDEE and would lose weight on 3,000. If...

Do certain Pilates Moves attribute to more of a boxy figure? Confused!!

@kenhui if you're working hard enough to add an inch to your waist, you'd be adding multiple inches to your hips, chest, etc. So it wouldn't disrupt the hourglass look. Core strength is important to support all the strength and functionality that is needed to pursue the rest of OP's goals.

Do certain Pilates Moves attribute to more of a boxy figure? Confused!!

@jnicole Your obliques are thin sheets of muscle. You'd have to get into serious bodybuilder territory for your obliques to impact the visual appearance of your waist at all. Here's a study that measured thickness of the obliques and other abdominal muscles. Add up your internal and external...
